Acura considering TSX coupe & Civic-based sedan - report
2010 Acura TSX V6

Could show up in 2012

According to a recent report, Acura is considering moving downmarket to increase sales.

Details are limited, but Autoweek says the company may sell a version of the next-generation Honda Civic. Envisioned as a spiritual successor to the popular RSX, the model would feature unique styling and a high-quality interior. A launch could come as early as the spring of 2012, but nothing is official as of yet.

Furthermore, Acura is also considering a coupe based on the TSX platform. Possibly positioned as an affordable halo vehicle, the coupe could spark renewed interest in the brand.

Acura has lost their way. Screw the TSX!!! It's just a Euro Accord anyway! Down scale!? NO! Upscale, rearwheel drive or stick with SH-AWD and make it live up to it's name. If you can't compete with BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Lexus or Infiniti then close up shop!! Inject some excitement into these cars and then people will be in those dealerships. A car is an emotional purchase so if you have a car that has no emotional appeal...why bother.

Acura is a luxury brand they dont need to down scale they need to upscale.. What we need from Acura is an RSX sports car with a proper V6 and SH-AWD to compete with the likes of 370Z, TT S, Cayman and Evora not some ciVic sidekick.. Plus i think they should let go of the TSX altogether and focus on the TL because its losing appeal... Acura's decisions piss me off!!

I couldn't agree with you more. The RSX was already at the low 20k price point. That is going to cheapen the brand again, which is the reason I believe they cut the RSX to begin with. Acura needs a real halo sedan and sport coupe. The RL is not a halo car to me.

In other words: bringing back the Integra/RSX and they're going to sell the Canadian CSX (basically a Civic with leather) in the US.

I have to agree. Acura was sooo hot for the first few years when they hit the scene, but the brand and styling has become totally diluted. It's sad to me.
