Maybach 57S Coupe by Xenatec first production unit emerges
Maybach 57S Coupe by Xenatec first production unit, 1600, 04.10.2010

Starts at ?675,000

Several months ago we brought you sketches of Xenatec's Maybach 57S Coupe, now the first production model has been unveiled.

Designed by Burch Fred Hardt, the same man who penned the Exelero concept, the coupe features conservative styling and a luxurious interior. As part of the conversion, Xenatec pushed the B-pillar back 508mm (20 inches) and increased the curvature of the roof by installing more rakish A- and C-pillars.

Thankfully, the coupe is supported by Maybach so the vehicle's warranty won't be voided by the modifications. If that hasn't won you over, perhaps you'll be interested in optional extras like body armor and 21-inch alloy wheels.

Production will be limited to 100 units and pricing starts at €675,000 ($923,440).

XENATEC Coupé - based upon the Maybach 57 S

XENATEC is pleased to announce the launch of the XENATEC Coupé built by the Karosserie Manufaktur Weinsberg - a division of XENATEC Group - in cooperation with Maybach.

Created in 2002, the Maybach is undoubtedly one of the finest cars ever built. A powerful combination of state of the art technology, superior driving performance and opulent use of the finest materials places the Maybach in a league of its own.

Based upon the Maybach 57 S limousine, this dynamic interpretation of driver-oriented luxury sets new standards in terms of exclusivity - a very limited number of the XENATEC Coupé will be built by hand in Germany for discerning clients worldwide, and will be offered at an ex-works price of € 675,000 excluding taxes.

The XENATEC Coupé was designed by Fredrik Burchhardt, creator of the dramatic Exelero (a joint Fulda Tyre Company/Maybach project in 2004-2005), to surpass the highest expectations - fulfilling the needs of those who prefer to savour the Maybach experience from the driver's seat, enjoying the thrill of being at the helm of a high-performance flagship for the discerning connoisseur. A technical masterpiece offering uncompromised comfort together with ample space and superior agility.

The evolution from limousine to coupé has involved major changes to bodywork and interior, but none to the drivetrain - and to the already impressive performance - of the Maybach 57 S upon which the XENATEC Coupé is based.

Compared to the Maybach 57 S limousine, major changes have been also made to the immensely strong bodywork, which has been completely redesigned and engineered and features new doors allowing for easy access to the rear passenger compartment.

The windscreen and rear screen are more steeply raked for a sporty silhouette, lowering the roofline without compromising passenger comfort. A full glass roof can be fitted if desired, as can almost all other options available for the Maybach 57 S.

The doors and side panels as well as the front and rear fenders are new, as are the front and rear bumpers. Rear track is increased by 20 mm, and the standard 20-inch wheels allow for a marvellously supple ride whilst the optional 21-inch wheels sharpen handling to sports car levels - bringing the Maybach experience to the driver's seat.

About XENATEC:

In November 2009, XENATEC Group acquired the Special Purpose Vehicles Division of the renowned ThyssenKrupp Drauz Nothelfer concern in Weinsberg, Germany. Located near the birthplace of Wilhelm Maybach, this is home to a passionate team of experts.

Perpetuating the centennial tradition of ThyssenKrupp Drauz Nothelfer, this highly specialised company designs and produces bespoke vehicles such as armoured limousines and individual luxury automobiles for VIP clients. Moreover, XENATEC supplies automotive OEM clients with a broad range of white-metal components for specialised vehicles, as well as building prototypes and test vehicles for several German car manufacturers.

Drawing upon this vast reservoir of experience, XENATEC has designed and engineered the transformation of the highly exclusive Maybach 57 S limousine into an exciting and even more exclusive luxury coupé.

Every single car will be built to individual customer specification and handcrafted in Germany. The opportunities for personalisation, even extending to armouring the car, are almost boundless.

All stated prices are net prices.

Everything looks great about this car except the rear profile. That's when it begins to look like a bit cheap. I guess the designers lost their imagination when they finally made it to the rear.

It`s a good move to save Maybach !!

It won't save Maybach my friend, because it's not made by Maybach Manufaktur. Xenatec is an independent company like Brabus and only use parts and body of Maybach 57S to build it. Look at the pictures it doesn't have Maybach badges

A big Hyundai Sonata. If I were the luxury car companies I'd be annoyed b/c Hyundai ruined this car for me.

I'd have a hard time deciding between this and a CL 63 AMG+800K. Ever since the W221, Maybach's just don't look distinctive anymore.

Looks better than the RR or Bentley alternative, and none of those cars have reclining rear seats, or the inner comfort of this beast. If you have the coin, i don't think you can get a better uber lux coupe. If i was a russian mobster i would definitely have one of these bad boys in bulletproof trim with a sexy russian blonde model beside me. That's so this car.

If I were a Russian mobster I would also wear Nike jumpsuits and thick, gold neck chains. But then they say that money doesn't buy you class... thanks for utterly killing any sort of attraction that I felt for this car with that example. What's next? If you were a rapper you would buy that car and show it off on your next video while singing about how gangsta you are?

A coupe Maybach? What's the point in that car? Really, who wants to drive a car which is meant to be driven for you? Plus, the interior is old S Class. Nothing is charming inside.

Seems like a long wheel base CLK.. A good idea but not well resolved. I prefer the S-Class that West Coast Customs transformed into a coup?, much more successfull
