BMW will begin offering a tuning kit for the X6 model in North America starting later this month.

The kit for the X6 will come from BMW's Performance Accessories unit and features a number performance additions including engine tuning.

Power kits will be offered on the Xdrive35i and xDrive50i models by way of a little ECU tinkering.

The V6-powered X6 Xdrive35i gets a bump up to 320 bhp (240 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque from the standard 300 bhp and 300 lb-ft. The V8-fitted xDrive50i gets things dialed up to 440 bhp (330 kW) from the standard 400 bhp and torque rises from 450 to 480 lb-ft (650 Nm). The engine tuning makes both variants 0.2 seconds quicker on the 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint.

Also available will be an aerodynamic kit which includes new front and rear bumpers, side skirts and a rear bumper insert. Fins and a deck spoiler for the rear are optional.

21-inch alloy wheels are also in the offering - 10 x 21 in 285/35/R21 tires at the front and 11.5 x 21 with 325/30/R21 tires for the rear wheels.

Also part of the kit is a flat-bottomed race steering wheel hand-finished in Alcantara.

V6 BMW's? Has BMW now started going against their word on straight sixes as well???? Reporting has to be a little more careful.

It must be a typo problem, it is the same engine as 740i and I never found V6 behind the hood

The car in no way looks like an Aztek! I think it is really beautiful. Only pity is that it is marketed as a lifestyle vehicle and leaves out the possibility of the 5th seat. Means the family guy will have to settle for the less stylish X5
