Worth a 2nd look: Jaguar C-X75 supercar concept videos

Jaguar has released three videos featuring their latest, and one of their most popular, concept cars.  The Jaguar C-X75 supercar has already impressed many of you who read our article about the car yesterday, but these videos showing the car, and its jet turbines, from almost every angle are a must see.

"The C-X75 is a celebration," says Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum in one video.  "Its about enjoying something that's mechanical and beautiful."

Performanse-wise, the car would definitely be enjoyed by many.  The car has a faster 0-300 km/h time than the Bugatti Veyron, thanks to its four 195-horsepower (145-kW) electric motors and two small turbine engines.  The turbines spin at speeds up to 80,000 RPM, and help the car race to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.

The car is very much about the future of the English brand, which is celebrating its own milestone this year.

"For the 75th Anniversary of Jaguar, we wanted to try and show something, or to try and demonstrate something that expresses what Jaguars of the future could look like and be like," said Jaguar Head of Research Tony Harper in a video on the car's innovation.

"We needed to show how the design language can be relevant in the future, we needed to show how we could deliver performance and light weight in the future, and we needed to show how forward-looking technologies could be delivered within that package," Harper continued.

For the brand, the car is very much about both the driving experience and the emotional impact of that experience.  "You're very much sitting in the eye of the storm.  You're right in the center of that powertrain," said Julian Thomson, Jaguar's Head of Advanced Design.

Hearing Thomson speak about the car, it almost sounds like Jaguar will put this incredible beast into production.  "And that's going to be a fantastic experience, unlike anything anyone has ever driven before," he said.

I think Jaguar could easily put it into production, maybe with less futuristic interior and ask for it a Pagani or Koenigsegg price. There would be many enthusiasts who would buy it. Can't wait to see it next week at the Paris Motor Show.

what's with the dodge neon happy headlights and super small gunshot windows? also the living organic gill on the door? Whoever is designing this is not consequent about details, being so literal is childish.

This is a supercar. If you expected it to has more glass than Renault Espace you have a right to be disappointed-)) It's rather sad that headlights of this car reminds you a Dodge Neon despite if it's even true.

Love it! I love little details like the Aston Martin Door handles, and the chrome vents on the sides. And you can feel Jaguar's DNA as well, it feels like an logical evolution for the old XJ220.

This car is just beautiful, just when I thought there could be no better car than the One-77, I bet they could charge even more money than the Aston and it sould be sold in a blink

Does anybody know what are those turbines and where they are from? Looks amazing and maybe they can be an interesting alternative to petrol and petrol/electric supercars.

I suggest that Jaguar should build this in limited numbers. It would be a fitting tribute to the XJ220 and XJ-13.

Worth a 2nd look: Well they spend most of their time building concepts and not much else, hence the recent financial problems. Worth a 2nd look, they'll never build it so why bother.

This Concept has strong Ford GT90 design cues; a compliment not a criticism. A modern statement from a company that nearly became a recession victim last year! However, production of the C-X75 should only be allowed provided it can be financially feasible. Tata is far too shrewd to make such a mistake in these harsh economic conditions.
