Debuts in Los Angeles

The folks at Saab United have managed to get their hands on an image of a pre-production 9-4X.

While details are limited, the crossover has attractive styling and a sloping roofline. Inside, spy photos have indicated we'll find a 9-5 inspired dash and a center console-mounted ignition.

Engine options are expected to include a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 245 hp (183 kW / 248 PS) and a turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 with 300 hp (224 kW / 304 PS). While official specifications haven't been announced, the Chilean Saab website accidently revealed the 2.0-liter model would accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.4 seconds, top out at 250 km/h (155 mph), and consume 15.9 l/km (15 mpg US) city and 10.6 l/km (22 mpg US) highway.

The 9-4X will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show, in November, so stay tuned for continuing coverage.
