2012 Mercedes CLS crashes on the N?rburgring
Follows the SLS AMG GT3 wreck
For the second time in less than a week, a high-profile Mercedes has crashed on the Nürburgring.
Details are limited, but a 2012 CLS was involved in an accident that caused a fair amount of front-end damage. This, of course, follows last weekend's SLS AMG GT3 crash.
As we have previously reported, the 2012 CLS-Class will be unveiled to the public at the Paris Motor Show. It will be launched in April with three different engines including a 204 PS (150 kW / 201 hp) 2.1-liter diesel, a 265 PS (195 kW / 262 hp) 3.0-liter diesel, and a 306 PS (225 kW / 302 hp) 3.5-liter petrol. Eventually, these offerings will be joined by a 435 PS (320 kW / 429 hp) 4.7-liter twin-turbo V8 and a 544 PS (400 kW / 536 hp) twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8.

So both the lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control failed.

You do know its illegal for the car to actually do all the work by itself, it can intervene but only to a degree.
Anyway neither of those would have worked in a situation like this, the sensors aren't able to detect a guardrail on your right and if he spun out like I'm assuming he did even the car breaking itself wouldn't have changed much sadly, and lane departure actually requires highway-sized lanes as its filmed through the mirrors.
I realize this was probably a joke, but just in case some people other then you don't know how the systems function...

Garais87: Excuse me, but how the he.. can it be that you say Mercedes sucks these days because of two incidents??? Try to remember 2 months back when a Lexus testdriver was killed in an accident involving a BMW. Was that funny to? You make no sence.
God, this forum is more and more amazing!

Sorry , Mercedes-Benz ... Your FerdinandPiech-taunting video advert was so unrealistic that even real life events puts to a test your credibility under a glaring spotlight .

But isnt it ok to find flaws of the car when testing and not after putting it into production?
And seriously..I dont know why people are saying Merc sucks..!! Well they dont nowadays.
They are really back making reliable and good cars.

Mercs build fantastic cars nowaday - also, they are built like brick sh**houses so if you hit anything.....it will stay hit! Can't wait to see it in the flesh!
