Marussia production begins; first show room opened in Moscow [video]

Russian specialty sports car manufacturer Marussia Motors has marked the start of production of the B1 and B2 models with the grand opening of their first showroom in Moscow located at 17 Tverskaya Street.

First unveiled in late 2008, the B1's original design included a hybrid powerplant but has since been dropped.  The second model is the jet fighter inspired B2.  Both models featuring a mid-mounted 3.5-liter V6 from Cosworth is available in three power levels: 300, 360 ad 420 horsepower. Not the most powerful supercar around, but Marussia insists the power level is competitive given the weight of 1100 kg (2,425 lbs).  This allows a sprint to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds.

Priced at around 100,000 euros, Marussia has supposedly collected a healthy amount of orders.  By 2014 Marussia plans to produce up to 10,000 cars per year.  This includes a third Marussia F2 SUV model slated for market launch in the spring 2011 followed by a September surprise in Frankfurt.

I really like the design although it resembles a bit a few recently released supercars but still, it's a very cool car, really futuristic. And it's actually going to be released, not just a mere concept. About the comment in the video about mass cars... 10,000 cars a year sounds pretty mass to me. Anyways, if I had the money, I would definitely buy one. It's not too expensive either.

The B1 is way more better McLaren in feture design and performance( this should be the next McLaren not the MP4-12C), but the B2 is off the scale, it looks like is from another planet, BRAVO.

ha, ha, ha... what a joke... 10000 per year... they should be happy to produce 25 per year... ugly, ugly, pointless joke... and especially because it's a so called "supercar" I'd be afraid to be in one considering the safety... at least I know that in an R8, Porsche, Lambo, Ferrari, I'll be quite protected... but in this "no beginning and no end" car... never ever

Darth Fader should be proud of zis because ze force is strong vit zis one! Outlandishly Russian. Dare I say it original design. Interior architecture needs work however, but B1 is an F1 McLaren/Pagani Zonda rival aesthetically. The B2 on the contrary, is a bit of a Peperrami! Another supercar entrant gatecrashes the growing Super Car Club!

a nice alternative to the R8. i'd buy this instead of any Ferrari or Lambo, just because it's Russian is reason enough.

Does not compare favorably with my other favourite russian vehicle... then again that IS a MIG, so, diff idea all together. How long before the gas-billionaire mafia edition comes out, with nuclear motors? Gotta love good ol Russia!
