BMW Frankenstein test mule latest video - named i100 Coupe ActiveHybrid

BMW teaser site DontBlogAboutThis.com, has released another video featuring their silent 6-Series test mule with the front end design of the Vision EfficientDynamics Concept.

As previously reported, the 2+2 seater internally code named Project 442 will be named the BMW i100 Coupe ActiveHybrid.

We previously speculated the Frankenstein mule could be powered by a plug-in hybrid engine, perhaps the same 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbo diesel hybrid from the VED Concept. It had a total system output of 356 PS (262 kW / 351 hp) and maximum torque 800Nm (590 lb-ft). Made from advanced lightweight construction, the VED Concept achieved 3.76 liters/100km (62.6 mpg US) fuel consumption while emitting 99 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

If reports of a 2013 introduction are correct, the existance of i100 powertrain mules seems right on target. Autobild also states that the i100 is expected to break the 100,000 euro price bracket with 35,000 units targeted.

It's a really pretty design but at least the rear end resembles a lot Mercedes Benz SLS and SL65.

Good move, but is there any plan to introduce it with smaller engine and 80s gram CO2 rather than just keep it at 99g CO2.
