We've seen the spy photos as well as a teaser design sketch of the ix20 MPV, and now first official images have been released ahead its public debut in Paris.

Based on the Kia Venga, the 5-seater MPV gets a substantial amount of restyling to differenetiate itself. Taking design cues from the ix35 crossover, the ix20 gets redesigned front and rear ends including new bumpers, grille, headlamps, fenders, hood, taillamps and rear liftgate. Interior is also redesigned and includes standard features such as air conditioning, side and curtain airbags and Bluetooth connectivity. Driving aids such as stop-start and ESP are also standard.

When the ix20 launches in Europe this fall, 1.4-litre petrol and diesel engines producing 90 PS (66 kW / 89 bhp) will be available. CO2 emissions of 114g/km and fuel economy of 4.3 l/100km (65 mpg imp) for the diesel are best in class according to Hyundai. Additionally, a 1.6-liter engine producing 127 PS (93 kW 125 bhp) will also be available with an automatic transmission only.

I wonder has Hyundai considered selling the ix20 in the USA as a replacement for the Accent hatchback? Or will it become the new Kia Rio5 hatchback in the USA market?

To be fair hyundai/ kia are probably one of the only manufacturers that have differentiated well between their two brands. Yes hyundais are more reserved, but you need that to sell shed loads of cars.
