RENM Performance tunes Audi R8 V8 and V10 up to 600 PS
RENM Performance Audi R8 Enigma, 1024, 09.09.2010

New to the pages of WCF, RENM Performance recently showed us what they can do with the Porsche 997 Turbo. Now the tuning firm from Melbourne, Australia is showing us their package for both Audi R8 V8 and V10.

Starting with the Audi R8 4.2 V8, which RENM has lovingly named Enigma, upgrades include an ECU recalibration, carbon fibre air-intake and performance exhaust that increases peak-power to 460 PS (338 kW / 454 bhp) 465 Nm (343 lb-ft), an increase of 40 PS (29 kW / 39 bhp) and 35 Nm (26 lb-ft) of torque. Not enough? A supercharger kit for the 4.2 V8 is also available, and when combined with previously listed engine upgrades, increases total power output to an impressive 530 PS (390 kW / 523 bhp) 600NM (443 lb-ft).

For the 5.2 V10 power output is increased to 565 PS (415 kW / 557 bhp) 560 NM with a simple ECU recalibration alone. By adding high-flow sports air filters and performance exhaust system, peak-power for the 5.2 V10 increases to 600 PS (441 KW) and 585 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. As a reference, the 5.2 V10 produces 525 PS (386 kW / 518 bhp), and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) of torque in standard form.

Other items on offer include a sound volume controlled valve exhaust system operated via remote control, 20-inch light weight carbon fibre/forged wheels, carbon fibre/alacantra steering wheel and carbon fibre interior upgrades. A carbon fibre front lip and rear diffuser are optional extras while uprated brakes include 8-piston front and 6-piston rear calipers.

Other options include race suspension kits or race hydraulic lift systems.

I guess the V8 upgrade is good for those who were impatient and picked up the first R8 they could get their hands on. As for the V10 upgrade, I just don't think it's necessary, although 600bhp could be a lot more fun. I wonder how that will affect handling...

It is a sin to modify a car like this.

It looks like the V8 with supercharger will be quicker to 60 than the V10 as it has a 30lb-ft torque advantage and a better power to weight ratio. But the V10 has over 60 more hp, so it should beat the V8 in the quarter mile and in top speed. I personally would opt for natural aspiration with the R8 V10 Roadster.

Someone who got a bonus after they bought the car when they originally wanted a Lamborghini. Can't think of any other reason to modify the V10.
