2012 Hyundai Sonata / i40 Wagon spied
Practicality meets style
Thanks to our spy photographers, we can bring you these new images of the 2012 Hyundai Sonata / i40 Wagon.
Caught near the Nürburgring, the heavily camouflaged prototype doesn't reveal too much. Regardless, we can expect a "fluidic sculpture design" similar to the sedan.
Under the hood, a variety of four-cylinder engines will be offered. Choices will likely include a 163 hp (121 kW /165 PS) 2.0-liter, a 198 hp (148 kW / 201 PS) 2.4-liter, a 274 hp (204 kW / 278 PS) turbocharged 2.0-liter, and a hybridized 2.4-liter with 169 hp (126 kW / 171 PS).
It remains unclear if Hyundai will offer the wagon in the United States, but Europe is a sure thing.

Why even cover it. Who the hell cares. Like anyone is anticipating this Hyundai wagon.

In the rest of the world where people are acually expected to pay for fuel, wagons/estates call them what you will, are considered sensible alternatives to hulking SUVs and mini-vans that are anything but.

My point is that they are covering the design to hide it to make it a surprise. I'm not saying no one will buy one but who really cares about the reveal. What part of the world would you assume I am from that I don't expect to pay for fuel?
