That's quite a bit faster than the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, I hope the numbers are accurate and true though. More competition in this area wouldn't be a bad thing either.

The Veyron SS has already sold the required 25 units to count as a production car, as far as i know the SSC Ultimate Aero has yet to sell 25, this one is even further from that mark. Props for them going after one thing when comparing themselves to Bugatti, top speed. Because for everything else there is no comparison.

Wasn't that very obvious in the first place? Even a five year old can figure out the fact that a garage company can barely compete with one of the world's finest and most traditional automotive marques. There's no need to rub it all over their faces like so many people here seem to enjoy doing. SSC well knows what they're aiming for and so far they've delivered on that front. So, as you say, props to them. And I mean it.

wait, using 4 turbos and a massive 16cylinder 8liter engine to produce 1200hp is considered fine engineering? people blame the weight on the veyron do to the "luxury" interior, but have you ever seen it? It's quite plain, expensive yes, but very lacking in amenities that would actually add weight. The veyron is simply fat because they put an excessively large engine into it. Imo, the veyron is NOT fine engineering. As to tradition... VW bought Buggatti, destroyed the company and threw together a new one years later, their is no tradition beyond the name.

@ Joe Limon : the weight isn't raised so much by the interior features. The body of the Veyron with all of it's components add to that weight. But instead, like Clarkson would say, you don't have the feeling that everything is falling apart when you're doing +400kmh. If you close your eyes at that speed it would feel like standing still. :)) And also the car meets some standards of safety, and the engine will not catch fire after 1000 km...things like that. That's what makes the Veyron so special. And the engine is that big because it's old. And to develop a new engine for the SuperSport would have been too expensive. I bet that with today's VAG technology they could make a smaller, lighter, more fuel efficient and more powerfull engine than the one on the SSC Ultimate Aero 2. :P

how exactly is the Veyron engine older then the Ultimate aero's engine? The ultimate Aero started with the small block chevy engine, modified the block and all of the components, so in a way... the Aero has the "older" engine. And I like how you can make claims over reliability and ride over vehicles you probably never even seen before, let alone driven, or for that matter driven at those limits. Oh but do go on, live in your pink sunglasses world.

@ Joe Limon : dude, you got that right..."they started" with that engine block, but the components use 2010 technology. Veyron's engine is 6 years old. On the supersport they've fitted bigger turbos and that's it. Ever heard of a Veyron burning? Those are facts mate!

Well, the engine is too big because of reliability and exclusivity! W16 is a unique engine in the history of automotive industry!
