The layout of Austin's formula one track has finally emerged.

Featuring 133 feet of elevation changes, it was revealed by 2012 US grand prix promoter Tavo Hellmund to the local American Statesman newspaper.

The 3.4 mile Hermann Tilke-designed track will reportedly have a 200mph maximum speed, a long back straight, and some corners that resemble famous F1 tracks.

"It should be nice," Hellmund said as he looked over the plans. "I think drivers and fans should really like it."

According to the Associated Press, Hellmund said F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone also "likes it".

He said the layout includes three ideal overtaking places, and sections that resemble Silverstone's Backetts, the Stadium section at Hockenheim, and Turn 8 in Turkey.

"It will be similar to one gigantic turn," Hellmund said of the Istanbul-esque section.

It has been reported that construction of the circuit southeast of Austin could begin in December.

"I don't want to put a date on it. Everybody is hustling and bustling," said Hellmund.

Interesting layout. Great to see a large part of the track "in the forest" unlike most of Tilke's circuits. Will be a stupendous circuit if it ends up being built to this design.

THe most interesting thing about this track is the climb up to turn 1 although I think they should climb the winding side and come down the straight to the finish.

I was hoping for a banked turn or two like at other American speedways.

I thought they said this is not a "stop n go" track? I think Tilke is the one who's single-handedly destroying F1 by introducing no overtaking on his circuits.

This isn't a Tilke circuit as we know it Jim! I count five serious locations for overtaking. Turn six/seven could double back on itself harder, but hey I'm just an armchair critic. IF this circuit is realised it will go down as one of the greats.

i agree with your 5 location for serious overtaking but count a total of 7 places for in general for overtaking

All the current Tilke circuits looked promising on paper.

I think it looks brilliant!! I'm sure it will play host to some pretty good races in the near future, I can't wait to be there in 2012.
