Mercedes Benz C-Coupe spied in white
Launchs next year
Our spy photographers have caught new images of the 2012 Mercedes C-Class Coupe.
Designed to compete with the BMW 3-Series and Audi A5, the C-Class Coupe features slim headlights (with integrated LED turn signals), an aggressive front bumper, a sporty character line, and an optional panoramic glass sunroof.
Under the hood, engine options will mirror those offered in the sedan. Unlike the E-Class Coupe, an AMG variant is expected. It will likely use a 6.3-liter (6208cc) V8 with 451 hp (336 kW / 457 PS) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. If that doesn't sound exciting enough, there are rumors of an AMG Black Series.
The C-Class Coupe will be unveiled next year, so stay tuned to WCF for continuing coverage.

Merc continues to play games with names. From the proportions, this looks like a BMW 1-series competitor.

Agreed... charging E class sedan prices on the C class based E coupe... where does this C coupe fit in?

I'm confused too, surely the E-class coupe is MB's competitor for the A5/3er, since it's so similar size and price-wise. I'd have thought this would be more of a 1-series coupe competitor?
Personally I think it's irrellavent that the E-Class coupe shares underpinnings with the C-Class though

From the proportions this is MB's first real competitor to the 3 series coupe. I think introducing this will give them a platform to build on, but they do have a long way to go to get to the refinement available in the higher end 3 series coupes. The E Class Coupe is so out there now that BMW may have to make a 5 series coupe.

By price, by hefty one, this car is staying in same territory with E-coupe. Is it really so sporty to ask that money for C-pillared coupe, MB?

There is a stupid design on the side of the car but still it doesn't make any sense at all for doing this car, even the amg version.

It would be stunning without the b-pillar. But I doubt that MB is able to remove it without adding a lot of weight. So I guess it will only be a boring 2-door C-Class.

with specs like that it will compete with the top of the range BMW and AUDI coupes. it is definately larger then a BMW 1-series. I think it would do quite well, dispite the disbelief some are showing here :P

Very nice coupe, but why waiting so long after launch of C-class sedan if there is no big difference?

Look the side view and this looks exactly like the scion tc... They could have done a better job ... considering the 3er coupe and a5

do no want. MB, just forget about this. the "E Class Coupe" is already good enough. add the AMG version to that and everyone is happy. why bother with this C class "coupe"?

Judging by the fact that these sedan based "quasi" coupes did so well in the States previous to the SUV take-over...and the fact that SUV sales are dimming...Mercedes must be trying to cash in on the opportunity to change some sheet metal and charge more for a C-Class to motorists (upper middle-class motorists) who don't have the need for four doors...and don't like driving sedans.
The "E Class Coupe" is too expensive to compete with the likes of the 1-Series...to some extent less optioned 3-Series coupes...let alone the Infiniti.
Judging by the fact that there were alot of retirees at the condo that I used to live in used to drive Camry & Accord Coupes and the Lexus SC300 perhaps this will will do well with those folks...if they price it right.
It's obviously aimed at the US market...because if it were aimed for Europe it would be a hatch back wouldn't it?

Honestly ppl do you really think the E coupe is still a competitor to the A5 & 3er. In my opinion when replacing the CLK with the E coupe MB moved it up market to compete with a the coupe equivalents of the E sedan (6er etc). I mean staying with the non-performance cars the most powerful 3er is I6 turbo with 335hp, S5 V6 SC with 333hp, so the C coupe whch would have the some engine as the C sedan (V6 272hp) makes sense to compete with them. Most powerful 6er V8 360hp, E coupe V8 388hp so that makes sense too.
My opinion on it

price and size wise the Euro market disagrees with you.
the 6 Series is also much bigger than the E-Coupe.
this model is confusing. i don't know where it's meant to be placed in the model line up.

also i'd like to point out that your own argument about power comparisons is redundant. you've admitted that the CLK competed with the 3er, and yet the E-Coupe doesn't because it has a 388bhp car at the top of the tree. the 3er is available with 414bhp in the form of the M3, so by your own logic the M3 competes with the CL.
