Donto P1 from Argentina targets KTM X-Bow and Ariel Atom

Argentina based Donto Motor Company has released first images of their proposed KTM X-Bow and Ariel Atom competitor, the P1.

Donto president Campanera Laureano started development 18 months ago, and tests have already been conducted with multiple prototypes. 

Intended for export to Europe the P1 is a lightweight two-seater with a removable roof.  Although the P1 hopes to be street-legal in all markets, track performance is the main objective.

The P1 is constructed using a split body with a floating exoskeleton like an invertebrae, according to Donto designer Lucas López.  Body material is not mentioned but it will weigh less than 700 kg (1543 lbs). 

The powerplant has not been confirmed but the Donto team are looking to source something from Germany.  So far, prototypes have been equipped with VW's 180 hp 1.8T.

The chassis, which is already approved by the FIA, is designed by Hector "Tito" Perez, a renowned Argentinian chassis builder with over 400 vehicles to his name.  They span from Formula Renault and road rally to touring cars.

The Donto team are currently working on their first full body prototype.  The target price for the P1 is $55,000, and naturally production numbers will be limited.
