Next generation Honda Civic sedan image surfaces?

Honda is at work on the next-generation Civic and here we have, courtesy of WoodysCarSite, a purportedly leaked image of an upcoming Civic variant.

It's difficult what to make of it since we know not of this image's origins. Is it an artist's rendering or a leak from Honda itself? Hard to say. It looks like a Civic sedan, basically. And with that multi-tiered grill it seems ready, if not a little late, to take on the competition such as the Hyundai Elantra and the Susuki Kizashi.

The next-generation Honda Civic is due next year and will debut as a 2012 model. We recently spied a five-door prototype doing some testing in Germany where the European Honda Civic will likely get a smaller diesel power plant than its current 2.2 liter unit as well as a new petrol engine.
