PETA disputes Dodge advert with monkey - Taiwan reports with hilarious animation [video]

The story goes like this: Dodge releases an advertisement for a new car promotional sales event.  The ad, narrated by Dexter/Six Feet Under star Michael C. Hall, features a monkey dressed like Evel Knievel at the end of the spot pushing down an explosives plunger.  Sadly, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), made some noise complaining about the ad.  This was not because anybody tied to Dodge mistreated the monkey behind the scenes, but just because monkeys have been poorly treated over the years on film sets in general.

How did Dodge respond to this flawless logic?  They digitally removed the monkey, and changed Hall's voiceover from, "Wait! There's a monkey," to "Wait!  There's an invisible monkey."  Genius.

Perhaps only more genius is this animated video produced by Taiwanese firm Next Media Animation.  The company is known for their spectacular spoof news pieces on everything from recent troubles at Apple to the JetBlue flight attendant who quit his job by ranting at customers, swiping a beer, and jumping down the emergency slide of his aircraft.

Uh oh, I didn't find that animation amusing at all. Oh and by the way, PETA is one of the most ridiculous organisations out there. The cause is good, but the way they work is just idiotic. "You used a monkey in your commercial! Monkeys have been treated badly in the past! You must've treated the monkey badly!" and "Obama murdered a fly!!11 He should've trapped it and let it out the window." Well boohoo, there are billions of flies and other bugs out there, spreading diseases.

What is hilarious is that PETA wanted the thing taken off the air but instead dodge only removed the chimp but still refences it in the voice over

Put into the context of a news report, that's pretty damn funny. The reaction of the PETA guys is hilarious.

PETA might have a point of they had any moral standing but just a simple look into the organization and its history show it to lack any high ground in terms of treatment of animals.
