2011 Mercedes CLS leaked brochure image

debuts in Paris

Ahead of the Paris Motor Show, the 2012 Mercedes CLS has been unmasked thanks to these leaked brochure images.  Also included are the latest spy photos taken yesterday at the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

As expected, the CLS features styling heavily influenced by the E-Class and Shooting Brake Concept. Notable details include flared wheel arches, a sloping roofline, LED fog lights, and optional LED headlights.

Inside, the cabin boasts leather upholstery, wood trim, bright metal accents, and a new steering wheel. The four seat layout carries over, but the rear seats have better bolstering.

Under the hood, engine options include a 250 CDI with 204 PS (150 kW / 201 hp), a 350 CDI with 265 PS (195 kW / 261 hp), a 3.5-liter V6 with 306 PS (225 kW / 301 hp), and a 4.7-liter twin-turbo V8 with 435 PS (320 kW / 429 hp). The CLS 63 AMG will use a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 with 544 PS (400 kW/ 536 hp) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. All-wheel drive will be optional on the 350 CDI and 500, but we wouldn't be surprised if availability was expanded to the 350 CGI.

Europeans sales are expected to begin in January 2011.

some like it and some don't. i like this better than the original CLS, since it dropped that armadillo look and high waistline. i like all the sexy accent lines now, but it does look overdone. on the road this gives a much stronger road presence than the original one.

Looks beautiful. It's one of the best latest facelifts. Too much leds as usual and rectangle mirrors don't fit to the rest.

Shouldn't this be an S class, I mean it has more of a flagship look that 4dr sports coupe. I'm confused at the reasoning behind this. Wouldn't this compete with S class? How does that make sense?

Aghmmm, could you precise, what's on your mind? I don't get what is S-class to do with this? LEDs?

honestly, this sucks. this car looks like a horrid mix of the C and the E with a bunch of hastily drawn character lines along the side panels. what a pathetic effort by MB. the current one is truly unique, this is far too mainstream. fire gordon wagener now please, he already messed up the SLS and now this nonsense.

Are you going to park it next to your Duesenberg, or next to your Harrier Jump Jet?

I see the point... the front end is awsome... better than the current one but the taillamps are jus not MB... they look like some cheap hyuandai design...

I don't like the rear either, specifically how it appears to taper inwards. The rear should be beefy and powerful. Wonder if MB will offer it with three rear seats rather than just the two or has that already happened?

Well at least by making the new CLS like this they've confirmed the old one will become a design classic, as this looks like they couldn't stop designing it.... they should have force the man who did this to step away from the drawing board.

Quite nice but bit disapointing styling. But that's the current design line of MB cars, we've to get use to it. I don't understand the 250 CDI engine choice for the CLS. 350 should be the start.

OMG this thing looks so freagin beautiful!! I mean this totally destroys the Panamera!! while the A7 is out of competition since day one when they revealed it, it looks like it's gonna be Mercedes Benz CLS Vs BMW GranCoupe.

I love it... I think all the extra lines were needed to separate the look a bit from a regular MB sedan. But speaking of sedan, it looks like one too much... the rear quarter window needs to go!... and I'd love to see MB try a B-pillar-less design. The Japanese have been doing this since the 1970's! With today's tech, I'm sure there's a way to make such a design without compromising safety.

Did not like any of the pictures of this car I'd seen before, but I can now conclude that Mercedes has built a worthy successor to one of my all-time favorite cars.

I like it...the MB design language looks right on this car...even the rear pontoon fenders look right. Other than the Maserati Quattroporte what is there else to buy.

What a great looking car, falows the line of the already beautifull first version but readjusts everything to the new Mercedes design language. Truly original unlike the boring a7 (which looks like every other audi), truly beautifull seeing it besides the panamera, much more practical and afordable than a rapide. Now all we have to wait is to see the answer of bmw, which from the concept i admit is beautifull also but fallows to much the audi concept, which means, it just looks like a sportier 5-series, I do hope they make it more original than that. Only other that I trully want to see is the future quatroporte, that I beliave will be gorgeous

Whooooot!! Are you saying that the GranCoupe is just a sportier 5 series? im sorry but clearly you have no taste in cars. GranCoupe has nothing to do with the 5 series, the only thing thats common is the BMW badge.

Nothing to do????? what are u on????, underneath its a full 5 series with a diferent design thats it, just like the CLS shares the base with the E-Klass, so clearly u do not know what ure talking about. My issue with the 5 coupe is that it isn't diferent enough, the design is almost the same

Whatever you do, nobody dare say one suggestive thing about BMW. Force Induction and Bavarian MS will be up your ass about it within the minute. Force Induction, perhaps you know that the 6 series is built on the 5 platform? And what is the Gran Coupe? A 4 door 6 series. Think about it. I know it may be a little hard for you but it'll make sense one day.

I love it,looks beautiful ,it will be amazing in black . One thing that i can say about merc benz design language is you have to see it in the real world, just like the e-class sedan .
