this engine specs tells me all, 800hp and 800Nm, that means a very high revving engine, that also means it's not a longer lasting, already that V10 in M5 is tuned nearly to the max of what in engine terms means durability in a car which is bought for everyday commute! also 400jp program tells it all, to drive as much as possible in that mode! it is known that this engine is fragile, and those big superchargers can destroy that poor engine, it's superchargers for a dump truck not a car, well next gen M5 will be much better in tuning terms.

And yeah 1000HP version is coming.

I don't agree , they got 888HP from this V10 in X6 G-power with 0.8 bar and they say they can raise it to 1.0 which i think makes about 1000HP. Like ForceInduction said it's BMW not Proton or something like Geely!

Hero Sina you have no clue what you are talking about. This engine has been made to pump up around 1800hp using turbos by VS motors. The only problem would be fitment.... You were about 1000hp off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Myrep2aIgbw&feature=player_embedded

@BavarianMS , i said G-power which is a real tuner can get 1000Hp with 1.0 bar .i've never heard of VS motor, and as they said the turbo pressure is about 1.8 bar and they use methanol as well.you can't compare it to a 0.8 bar engine with no racefuel

FI: whatever you say, I would never have this tuned fragile car over the M5...never! and you could already know that we all aren't Audi fans, and I am not a fan ob BMW either! But I prefer torque over power YES, and this spec here tells me that this engine is not even properly tuned! To not even mention the gearboy, which falls apart ever 100miles in my opinion!

please teach me how to tell that the engine is not good from reading a specification sheet. im interested to know. this article doesnt even provide a dyno chart. im certain you possess some superpower. maybe you have to join your friends at the superheros forums, not here batman, superman, spiderman nor swiftyman.

This engine is a high revving engine(stock) and like other high revving engines it's power is higher than it's torque,You can't say "this spec here tells me that this engine is not even properly tuned" because it's wrong.I'm not an S85 engine expert , but i do know S65(which is based on S85) engine and no one could get more torque than power. Same story about Honda S2000

Friend? M5? engine blow? hmmm interesting maybe he should contact BMW's headquarter in Bavaria and they will be very interested to visit him and see how he got his M5's engine blown ;p

hope what you are telling us have some proof. but definitely I don't believe in what you're saying right now.

So, 1 out of the tens of thousands of the M5's sold had an engine blow, probably due to user error, so you come to an online forum and say it's unreliable? And it's your "friend"? Sure.

well that was last year and he sold it for around $20k and got a V8 x6 instead, well the engine blow was caused due to his modifications, even though he didnt go for internal mods but still for heasders and chip tuning mods thats not reliable.

S85 is a really strong engine but actually blowing engine isn't really rare since everybody with no experience try to force M5/M6 engine.the question is How he did it?

if its was a tuned M5 engine then it might be true but some people just don't know the difference between a manufacturer and a tuner.

After seeing the new 5 series it really makes you realize how ugly this vehicle is.

It's not that the old 5 series is ugly, no. It's that the new 5 series is so gorgeous so that it makes everything else look ugly. Its that easy.

not 5 fan, but it is a nice car and whoever thinks this engine is fragile has never owned one and is just saying something out of the blue, i have a tuning shop in LA and ive seen many m5s with over 150K miles on them that run like new cars. maintain the car and it will last, and as far as blowing an engine, thats on the driver, if u want give me a honda civic a rolls royce or a bugatti ill blow the engine on all of them. thats dumb it doesnt mean the engine is fragile. people need to stop and thing, u think bmw a company like that is gonna put a crappy engine in their cars or f1 racecars. and u thing G power is gonna spend all that money making a car to break down ???

The real question is: how much gas will the bunny face rs6 "mtm" eat on it's poor top speed? ofcourse 10x more than this monster :)

Paparazzi, you're an idiot. Also, this price tag is ridiculous. I would much rather have a regular m5. Who is really going to use this car to it's full, track potential? Just about no one.
