On sale next year

Our spy photographers have caught the first full-bodied images of the 2012 Chrysler 300.

While still camouflaged, we can clearly see the model will be instantly recognizable as a 300. Styling highlights include dramatic headlights, a revised grille, sculpted doors, and a rear bumper with an integrated dual exhaust system. Inside, the cabin will be outfitted with a multi-tiered center console, fake wood trim, and higher quality materials.

Engine options are expected to include a 290 hp (216 kW / 294 PS) 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, a 360 hp (268 kW / 365 PS) 5.7-liter HEMI V8, and a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 with up to 525 hp (391 kW / 532 PS). As we have previously reported, Chrysler has promised the Pentastar V6 will be 22% more fuel efficient than today's 3.5-liter V6. This translates into a fuel economy rating of 21 mpg city / 30 mpg highway.

Look for an unveiling during the first half of 2011, with sales starting shortly thereafter.

I'm sure your conclusion doesn't hurt Chrysler's profits for this model one bit.

There are many a Chrysler 300C that cost more than a BMW. Not sure that cost is really a reason that people choose this car. I think they choose it because they simply want it.

Most people buy them (in the US anyway) because they look striking (even at this old age) and provide a very well-disciplined driving experience thanks to its W210 Mercedes roots. Don't forget the ample space and reasonably modern technology offered.

the term "no turbo = no go" has new meaning in these times... a 5.7 V8 with only 360hp? Ford's 3.5 V6 Ecoboost pumps out the same power. I really hope this article is wrong and Chrysler (through Fiat) has some 21st century engines powering this when its launched

what about the V8's?? why not turbo the V6 to replace the 5.7, and turbo the 5.7 to replace the 6.4... ie do away with the 6.4 altogether. Easy fixes in my opinion for a company like Chrysler

Interestingly, rumors have been heard about a twin-turbo pentastar surfacing in a few more years...after teething issues are worked out. The price of a factory turbo package would be substantially more than the HEMI (to engineer AND produce). The HEMI is more than competent in every way. If you were Marchionne, would you waste that money? OHV engines are more advanced than ever. I was once a "cam-snob", speaking poorly of any design that did not include 4-valves per cylinder or DOHC. However, there is MUCH more to an engine package than the above stated. GM's next gen small-block will showcase the future of cam-in-block designs and their inherent efficiency with DI and a few even newer tricks.

younger i was crazy of the 300 . Now ( older ) i am more interested by family cars . Those big cars ( who pollued a lot ) do not give me any pleasure when i see them . Just the feeling of "too much" style . But i think , this is why other people like her .
