Spy shots capture clear view of next-generation SL-Class interior center console

These are the latest spy shots of the next-generation Mercedes-Benz SL-Class - and this time we get an up-close look at the interior.

Although the inside of the cabin is still cluttered with its own camouflage and the equipment of Mercedes-Benz's test engineers, we do get a very good look at the center console and it's on-board screen. You can almost read what song is playing on the stereo system.

Looking closely at the first picture too, you can even get an angled glimpse at the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel.

The car was caught doing its hot-weather testing in Death Valley, U.S.A., a desert which straddles the California and Nevada border. It's still wearing heavy camo that makes it look more like something from an 80s Mad Max movie than a car set to debut as a 2013 model sometime in the next couple of years. Hopefully, we'll get a less obstructed view of it before then.

Dash looks like an SLS dash..... so thats instantly made that car less special.

This dashboard looks cool on Camaro or Challenger, but not on Mercedes-Benz

I agree. It doesn't look bad if its on a Toyota, but Benz? This is a huge downgrade.

Is bad when the SLS is ?159k and the SL is around ?60k ish for mid range model and people mistake your SLS for an SL or new SLK!

So I assume the SLS, SL and SLK will share the same look for both exterior and interior? While you are at it, A, B, C, E, G, CL, CLS, M class could all use this look also.

Before you guys pass judgement, remember back then when we saw a spyhot of the cls interior and it looked like they lifted it off directly from the e-class sedan? And now we know that it instead got it's own unique interior (think e-class shooting break). Well, the same could hold true here...

the problem is who wants to wait 2 years for this car. and whats the point of buying one over the next 2 years just to have it changed on you.AND who wants to see these camo photos for the next 2 years waiting to see what the final product is going to really look like inside and out. Not ME.

One more thought Please. When this car is released for purchase with the 5.5 twin turbo engine, wont that in fact make the SLS and the SLS roadster, redundant? your thoughts!! DISCUSS

this is... ok. but I ddnt really like it on the SLS, and not here either, it's not... Mercedes enough. and yeah, the SLK and SL alweighs seem to share something with the super car. IE, the SLR had headlights like the SL and the nose like an SLK. I really miss the simpleness of the R107 interior... that's how I think all SL's should be.
