A Porsche Panamera S has won a Superstars race at the Mugello circuit in Italy.

Driven by Fabrizio Giovanardi, the N.Technology Panamera posted a time of 28:55.886 which was 2.083 seconds faster than the runner up. Unfortunately, during the second race Giovanardi was involved in an accident that affected the car's steering and knocked it out of contention.

According to team principal Mauro Sipsz, "We are of course happy and very satisfied with the results: pole position and victory in Race 1, a good loot for the debut of our newest car!"

As we have previously reported, the N.Technology Panamera features a lightweight aluminum space frame, aerodynamic styling, and carbon fiber brakes. It is powered by a 450 hp (336 kW / 456 PS) 4.8-liter V8 engine which produces 50 hp (37 kW / 51 PS) more than the standard car.

At the end of a spectacular and exciting race, Fabrizio Giovanardi took the Porsche Panamera S on the top step of the podium today at Mugello. Starting from the pole position after the qualifying of yesterday, Giovanardi fought in the first part of the race against the Mercedes-Benz of Pigoli and Ferrara to overtake the same Ferrara on lap five. Once again, in Superstars too, it’s a debut victory for an N. Technology car.

INTERVIEW WITH THE TEAM PRINCIPAL MAURO SIPSZ

After the great the debut of the Porsche Panamera S – victory and pole position at the Superstars debut race in Mugello this weekend - Mauro Sipsz, N.Technology Team Principal takes the opportunity to speak about the current situation and the future development of the project.

"We decided to take part to this event of Mugello in order to face the most demanding test, I mean a whole racing-weekend, bringing the Porsche Panamera S to the debut on a technical and selective track as Mugello. We are of course happy and very satisfied with the results: pole position and victory in Race 1, a good loot for the debut of our newest car! The car has been competitive and reliable from the very beginning, demonstrating the validity of the whole project as well of the road car and awarding the work of the team, once again exceptional.
Unfortunately in race two – with the reverse start of the top eight finishers of Race 1 - a contact with another car undermines the proper functioning of the power steering, affecting negatively our performances and thereby the chance to reach a better result.
From tomorrow, N.Technology will start the second phase of the program which foresee the first evolution step of the car dedicated to the Paul Ricard event (18-19 September). This will represent the final version of the car addressed in the future to our sporting clients. In fact on that occasion it will be available a second car alongside the one of Fabrizio Giovanardi.
Moreover we will start with the production of cars for our clients. Our engineering department will grant them development and on-track assistance."

- Today´s victory is the No. 149 in the twenty-year history of Technology, while Saturday’s pole position represents the No. 101 ;
- The Porsche Panamera S joins the group of other cars by N.Technology winnig a race at the racing debut on the track: the Alfa Romeo 156 Super 2000 (Magny-Cours 2002) and the Ferrari 575 GTC (Estoril, 2003).

If this car was put through its rigors at WTCC races... it may look interesting to watch it race alongside Chevy Cruzes', BMW 3-Series, etc.
