Top Gear: Bugatti Veyron Super Sport top speed run and Stig track lap [video]

What happens when The Stig gets its hands on the World's Fastest Production Car?  You would think it would take the lap record at the Top Gear test track.

And you'd be right.

The Stig took the incredible Bugatti Veyron Super Sport around the dry tarmac of Dunsfold Aerodrome in 1m 16.8s, edging out the Gumpert Apollo by 0.3 seconds.  The hypercar beat a stock Veyron by 1.5 seconds, and a Ferrari Enzo by 2.2 seconds.

This follows Top Gear presenter James May's sprint in the car, where he took the vehicle up to 259.11 mph (417 km/h).  Captain Slow got his hands on the car after it won the fastest car title by posting an average top speed of 267.81 mph (431.072 km/h).

The title, however, may be short lived, as the former record holding SSC Ultimate Aero is being redesigned, and could go for the record later this year.

last TG episode was the best of all I think and I know what I say, cause I've seen all episodes beginning from when they were back somewhere in year 2000. Veyron, Senna tribute and Cameron Diaz with Tom Cruise was great. And I think I will remain silent about the Veyron, cause Im speechless. This car is simply out of this world. Oh and I can't wait for all these SSC and McLaren fanboys calling Veyron a crap :)

Zonda R is on another level...it would probably do it around the 1:09-10, like the FXX and the Caparo T1.

but clarkson wont count the lap from the Zonda R anyways, because he says in order to count, the car has to get over speed bumps....

and that simply shows what kind of technology needs a car to produce, to harness and to put all that power to the ground. It's simply unbeliveable what those engineers did accomplished... and all the others SSCs, Koenigseggs a.s.o., are nothing more than kids toys compared to that one... My respects to those guys (and I'm pretty sure that someone will denigrate this masterpiece, on this forum... cause that's the human nature I guess)...

I know it has 1200PS and AWD, but I still find it amazing that an 1800kg car can go round that track in 1:16.8. An incredible feat.

using 365s in the rear and awd, allows this car to breaks the laws of physics. 0-100 in 4.5 seconds....wow.

@ Mikeado, The SS is not 1800kg anymore, it's 300kg lighter, and this is exactly what the Veyrone was need, less weight not more power.
