Spies in Southern Germany managed to catch a series of photos featuring both a 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe prototype and a crash test vehicle.  While the prototype is masked by camouflage, the crash test unit does reveal quite a bit.

Seen unmasked, the car has a nice roof line, somewhat large wheel arches, and a b-pillar that hits the door at a near 90-degree angle.  It also gives us a better idea of the rear side window shape, which end with a slightly upwards line and the glass coming to a point.

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe will be produced at the automaker's plant in Bremen.  The factory handles the estate and saloon versions of the C-Class, and will handle the GLK soon.  Mercedes' new coupe will hit showrooms simultaneously with the facelifted estate and saloon in 2011.

Because of this, it is expected that the new C-Class coupe will only stay on the market for a couple of years before the next-generation C-Class hits the market.

the E coupe goes against the 6 series , the C coupe goes against the 3 series coupe.

This is going to be a hot car, the sedan is already hot, the coupe will be hotter, not everyone can afford a cl or e class coupe, cant wait to see the C-Class coupe AMG...

the indicator light is on the bottom in one of the pics which is different from the sedan and t-limousine. perhaps the lights will be slightly different? still think they should get rid of the b-pillar and make it a true mb coupe.

I agree. Def should have lost the B-pillar. Price would have increased, but that "windows-down experience" is a pretty strong selling point.

the pillarless coupes with the star in the grill and the bank vault like doors that close with a thud are just so iconic. you're totally right, it would push costs up but could be a great selling point. i guess it's a business after all, the MB of twenty years ago would've definitely gone pillarless.

Yeah, it looks great, all those windows down, mercedes is on of a few if not the only one who does that.

This is not a coupe, this is a 3-door C-Class. The pillar thing just won't do for me...

B pillers? On a Mercedes-Benz? eh... ok I guess, Id rather it be a bank vault with a B piller, than weaker without one... Im already in love with this car. just saying...
