New Hyundai compact hatch will be made in Brazil and be aimed primarily at the South American market

Here are some leaked photos from AutoEsporte.com of an upcoming Hyundai hatchback model set to debut sometime in 2012.

The compact hatchback, referred to as the HB, is said to be smaller than the Accent model and is being developed primarily for the South American market to compete against the likes of the VW Gol and the Honda Fit. It will be built at Hyundai's Piracicaba plant in Brazil. Plans are to produce around 100,000 units a year.

Looks-wise, the HB features design lines similar to the ix-Metro concept which Hyundai introduced at the Frankfurt motor show last year.

The new hatch will come with two flex-fuel variants (Brazil is the world's largest producer of ethanol) - 1.0 liter and a 1.6 liter engine. The bare-bones 1.0 liter version will feature unpainted door handles and mirrors, according to a Hyundai source (as reported by AutoEsporte.com.)

The report also states that variants of the HB may include a sedan and compact SUV version.

Thanks Gustavo!

from the back it looks really great. Hyundai has truly found a nice design, I hope they keep it up. now lets just hope the front doesn't look like the bug, like the concept does.
