McLaren MP4-12C pre-orders now up to 2700
Will only build 1,000 a year
As expected, the McLaren MP4-12C is a hot commodity.
Currently, there are more than 2,700 pre-orders for the highly anticipated supercar. Considering McLaren is only planning to build 1,000 a year, this represents a nearly three-year backlog.
As we have previously reported, the MP4-12C features a twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 with 447 kW (600 bhp / 608 PS) and 599 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. Backed up by a seven-speed "Seamless Shift" dual-clutch transmission, the engine enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than 3.8 seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 300 km/h (186 mph).

I think that this a gonna be a big hit to the market. Especially in the super car category.

The side shape is too gallardoish.

What exactly are "pre-orders"? Surely they either have an order or they don't. This sounds like a word made up by someone who hasn't thought for a nano-second about just what an "order" is.

pre-ordered = expressed interested by placing a deposit.
ordered = spec'd out your car and possibly placing a second deposit.
very common.

It's a nice car, I like the performance but i'm disappointed about the top speed, 300-305 km is slow in a super car category, even stock C63 AMG can hit 310 km !

Ugly.
Looks like a Lambo/Ferrari rip-off. Like those cheap toy remote control cars.

this thing is so beautiful! i would take it over the new italia and the sls in a heartbeat, can't wait to see what the F1 successor looks like and am hoping gordon murray is involved with its development.

I don't think there should be soo much orders... This car is only going off the name... The car performance to me is ordinary and really isn't any super car speed... Compared to the older model this just looks very plain and not exotic... Well i will assume that per-order they would at least made a down payment in getting one...

i think you are missing the point. by 'older model' do you mean the F1? that's in another category. it's replacement is coming. the MP4-12C will shine with a brilliant chassis that ferrari and lamborghini can dream of in their $200k offerings.
