First Look: Peugeot 508 Photo Leaked
2011 Peugeot 508 leaked image

Peugeot's 407 replacement has been leaked through two clear pictures. The upcoming 508 sedan and SW (wagon) look much slicker and more upmarket than the 407. It is heavily based on the 5 by Peugeot concept car and keeps a lot of its design elements. The sedan is expected to debut at the 2010 Paris International Motor Show in October, while the wagon will come at a later stage.

Some technologies expected to make their way into the 508 include a start/stop engine system and a Hybrid4 diesel flagship with lithium-ion battery technology. Other motors should include the same 1.6 petrol turbo shared with Citroen and MINI, a 119 kW (160 bhp / 162 PS) 2.0 HDI and a 177 kW (237 bhp / 240 PS).

The car has already been caught doing extensive testing. It should be more fuel efficient and more spacious than its predecessor. More importantly it wants to take on the three Huns in its segment much more effectively than ever before.

Peugeot will start selling the 508 later this year, with UK sales scheduled for early 2011.

Quite nice looking as for the early photos. Impressing 2.0 HDI. I hope there is not a mistake and there actually will be 2.0, not as I think it should be 3.0, knowing current PSA specification. Waiting for interior photos

Peugeot loses its style. 508 looks like 2004 Hyundai Sonata NF

looks like a cross between that new hyudai 4door coupe thing and a mazda 6 wagon... with a squished R8 grill... i must say, with the concept looking so good i was expecting better... or maybe its just the Bob Jane clearance wheels that are putting me off...

Looks very good, in fact I can't think of a Peugeot that looks better, except maybe 407 coupe...

They'd need to provide instructions on how to pronounce it.

Haha, it's sadly true. Took me a while to pronounce it correctly, thanks to all my British cousins.

At last! A picture of the non-grinning front. I get the impression that they wanted to make the squashed-looking grille go as far down as the intake at the very bottom of the bumper, but couldn't because it'd end up looking like an Audi. Those wheels on the 4-door look impressive for something that's tackling the humble Mondeo, although of course, they'll be the big expensive optional ones. I like the discreet Peugeot insignia on the top of the grille lining, and the headlights look good. The estate looks quite like the Mazda6 estate from that angle, with tail lights that whiff just slightly of Ford Mondeo. But that's a pert little rear. Overall this is a good looking car, a vast improvement over the 407. The new grille isn't great, but it's better.

They tried long time ago ... I think they should try again. Just to say, I saw recently an old 505 US spec in Canada ... What's wrong with "Five Hundred (and) Eight" or "Five O Eight" ?

Not bad at all, at least peugeot has the guts to give the wagon different rearlights than the sedan.

Not so long ago everyone was panning Hyundai design and now they are design leaders, Peugeot of all car firms is being accused of design plagiarism from the Korean outfit. How times change! The critcisms does have its merits: headlights, front fascia, slopy roofline, shoulder line, rear light cluster and rear hindquarter view bears remarkable resemblance to the Genesis and Sonata saloon models! The 508 is far better looking than its 407 predecessor.
