Will live on in our hearts

According to a recent report, the GTbyCitroen will not be headed for production.

While this is sad news, the car was never officially green-lighted. Back in 2008, PSA's chief designer, Jean-Pierre Ploué, hinted the concept could be produced but plans have apparently changed.

According to Caradisiac, Citroen decided the limited production run of six units wouldn't be worth the engineering and developments costs to bring the GT to market. Instead, the company will focus on sporty small cars like the DS3 Racing.

As you may recall, the GTbyCitroen concept originally debuted at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The company never released detailed specifications, but the production model was expected to use an American V8 from Ford or GM.

Agreed that it is not logical to bring the GT to (extremely limited) production, it would have been Citroen's golden ticket to the supercar world. Now, hope that the chevron will consider the survolt for production.

The concept that I heard at Goodwood sounds like it has a V8 from Ford

Whilst this is bitterly, bitterly disappointing, I kind of like that it won't exist. In GT5P, it's powered by 4 hydrogen motors producing something like 789bhp. I think using a combustion engine would've spoilt it somehow. It would change the futuristic supercar with it's massive electric surge into merely another flavour-of-the-month fancy design wrapped around an American engine, like the Bertone Mantide or Devon GTX. Only this'd get it's own chassis. I'll miss it. Right up until I get GT5. Or a scale model.

Citroen needs to work on a replacement for the C6 instead.

why? it's an outstanding car. Some people like it, 'cause it isn't so typically designed like all other vehicles in this class. Maybe Citroen don't sell so many units of C6, but it whould be sad to end this production or change it to an ordinary car. The GT is lovely. To bad they don't want to use it as a prestige electrical sportscar

Of course they won't produce it ever. Looks rather not nice and the costs of making this car would be huge. Citroen isn't a supercar manufacturer and never will be. I only hope they will do something with recent spectacular Metropolis Concept
