2012 Porsche 911 Cabriolet rendering / Teamspeed.com

Teamspeed junior member "Wild-Speed" has posted a new rendering of the 2012 Porsche 911 Cabriolet.  The artist designed the car based off of a prototype we showed you in spy photos last December, while taking inspiration from the 918 Spyder Super-Sports Hybrid concept car seen at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.

Overall, the car drawing has a nice look, though we do not expect Porsche would use a retractable hardtop for the model.  Wild-Speed defends this by saying that "the patents, the bigger boot and taller wheelbase" give evidence to a folding hardtop instead of the ragtops we've seen to date.  We really like the car's smooth rear, with well-placed and well-shaped taillights.  The side sills on the drawn model are more pronounced than those on the current convertible, but not to the excess of the 918.

Previously, Wild-Speed released a series of renderings of the front of the 2011 Porsche 991, also based on a WCF spy shot.  After messing around with the spy shots, the artist came to the conclusion that the sports car could be "wider, flatter and sleeker, [making it] it look bigger than it actually is..."

Let us know what you think about the renderings in the comments section below.

I was thinking the same thing. I am literally sitting in a Carrera 4s this second and I can see no difference from the picture.

You can't see any difference? Try using both your eyes. I can tell the difference no problem, much like all 911s.

Too bad the R8 and the 911 could not merge into one. That would look awesome.

the spoiler should be in between the tail lights not over lapping, all 911's past and current spoilers are in the middle of the tail lights. IMHO

I think it's a nice evolution of the 911.

For unknown reason, the rear - after the engine cover - makes me think of a (future) 928
