Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir Edition

Possible unveiling at Pebble Beach?

According to a recent report, the long-rumored Bugatti Veyron SuperSport is headed for production.

While details are limited, CarsUK is claiming an unnamed source has dropped a €400,000 ($496,470) deposit to purchase one of the 30 SS models which will retail for €1,650,000 ($2,047,675). The source also said the SuperSport will boast 1200 bhp (895 kW / 1217 PS) and weigh approximately 300 kilograms (661 pounds) less than the standard Veyron. More interestingly, the buyer stated the Veyron will have a revised exterior but the company isn't sending out pictures to people who have already purchased one.

As we have previously reported, ex-VW Chief and current Supervisory Board member of Volkswagen AG, Ferdinand Piëch has hinted a high-performance Veyron is a possibility, but declined to comment further.

If you're a bit of an optimist, look for a possible unveiling at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August.

more power, less weight? im liking this philosophy bugatti :)!!! ooo 300 kg's less is HUGE. much needed for the veyron IMO. all i wonder is... will the stability at top speed be affected? i prob don't even need to worry... bugatti's got it going onnn.

I Read Today - 4th July 2010!!!! 1200bhp, 110 pounds less than regular Veyron, new speeds of 427,933 km/h and 434,211 km/h reached by Bugatti test driver Pierre-Henri Raphanel. Also upgraded ceramic brakes, new electronic stability program, revised active aerodynamics package. Only 30 units set to be produced. First 5 units creates its own series called a World Record Edition with Guinness Record Car specs and have already been sold. The other 25 units will be limited to 415km/h, as Bugatti officials said "to protect the tyres". As average speed German Technical Inspection Agency (TU?V) and a representative of Guinness Book of Records generate a value of 431, 072 km/h. This even hit Bugatti's engineering team by surprise. Remarkable

With 300kg less weight this car doesn't need more power, the diet is enough but i really want to know how could they shed 300kg from the Veyron?

Maybe no brakes?

No chrome grille, less chrome inside the cabin, less leather? Seriously though, they probably employed the same kind of weight-saving they employ with the SuperLeggera Lambos, ie. thinner glass, more carbon fibre, less sound deadening etc.

they probably gave up on the automatic transmission and 4WD system

... no passenger seat... just one plastic "shell" for the driver, no dashboard, a.s.o.... seriously now: "Ferdinand Pi?ch has hinted a high-performance Veyron is a possibility, but declined to comment further". If Piech expects a high-performance version... then the current one is what? A PINTO? a Toyota Yaris???

Wait, so people have bought one without even seeing it? Bugatti just went "You there, Veyron driver. Want MOAR?" ... "I want MOAR!" ... "Good! That'll be ?1.6 Million" ... "Oh YEEEAAAHHHHH!! I wanna RED one!" That's how Bugatti sales go, I like to think... Seriously though, if those numbers are even slightly accurate, then the Veyron SS will be devastatingly fast - 1200PS and 1700kg means 705 horsepower/tonne! All put carefully onto the road with bespoke tyres and AWD. I wonder if they will reset the top speed limiter?

They probably get rid off the luxurious interior, even lighter parts and components and make it like Porsche did with GT3 RS or Ferrari with Scuderia. Bugatti said in the past that they will make only 300 units of Veyron. I read a year a go that 225 Veyrons had been delivered, so including a Grand Sport version I wonder if they are going to brake the 300. The idea of making limited editions in the Veyron price category is absolutely obvious. It's really exciting not only for possible buyers but for every petrolhead.

all you ppl are asking HOW this is possible? you all realize that bugatti changed the rulebook themselves by creating the original veyron... at bugatti... anything seems to be possible :P!. my guess for reduced weight would be even more excessive use of carbon fibre, titanium, etc etc in places they didn't use it before. hence the price jump, and also, lighter materials in the engine bay. different alloys and mixes of alloys... smaller everything? who knows. i'll tell u who... BUGATTI hahhaha shit.. i love this company :P

Don't forget the cooling system. Heat was major issue for Veyron. The engine alone nearly burned the entire lab factory exhaust.

Good for them! As long as they put it into Gran Turismo 5, I'll be happy. As that is the closest I'll get to owning one of them, short of a HUGE boost in real income!

How the hell can you save 300kg on this ???? They must have found a reliable way to deliver 1.2K HP out of a 1.2 liter supercharged 3 cylinder unit...

IF anyone here know how they plan to achieve this, I huess they would be workin @ Bugatti. Not to say they can't- they can and WILL!But only they know how- its why their engineers get paid what they do.

300kg less is possible ... if the price is not an issue. Titanium gearbox will already save 70kg, carbon body & chassis, aluminium parts for the drivetrain, etc. It sure will ends with a 2'000'000 ? car :-S

The original power of the Quad Turbo engine was 1200-1250 bhp, they had to limit the power for mechanical reasons and safety purposes. The SSC & Saleen S7 & Koenigsegg are already reached the 400+ kph, the Hennessy venom GT is 420+ with 0-100 in 2.2!!!, speaking about 0-100 the 997 turbo S recorded 2.9 sec, so Bugatti had to put a new understanding of performance , buy tight diet & power lifting they were able to reduce BMI (pwr/wt) from 2.03 to 1.41 !!! i think the carmakers well need 7 more years to reach the Bugatti new numbers. I wish to see a touch of Lamborghini performance with an Audi (R8) balance & drivability, & inspiration of Porsche, all saying this is a craftsmanship of VW.
