Aston DB9 to DBS conversion package by Edo Competition released

Aston DB9 to DBS conversion package by Edo Competition released
Aston DB9 to DBS conversion package by Edo Competition 18.06.2010

Engineers at tuning firm Edo Competition spent the last six months in their Ahlen, Germany, workshop developing a package that would turn a 2005 Aston Martin DB9 into an Aston Martin DBS.  Amongst the upgrades is a boost in engine output from 470 to 550 horsepower (350 to 410 kW).

The car makes use of a high-performance exhaust with 70 mm butterfly valves, stainless steel pipes, and chrome exhaust tips.  Riding on 20-inch wheels, the modified car is now able to hit 199 mph (320 km/h), 16 mph (25 km/h) faster than its previous top speed.

Exterior modifications include a new carbon fiber front fascia, as well as a carbon rear diffuser.  The car uses a new bonnet, with extra venting, and has a wider, more squared stance.  It also appears as if the car is riding lower to the ground.  Behind the new wheels are a newly-designed set of brakes, with six-piston front, four-piston rear calipers and 405-millimeter front, 380-millimeter rear rotors.

Inside, the car features a mix of Alcantara and leather in a contrasting off-white and charcoal grey color scheme.  Carbon fiber and brushed metal makes up the interior trim.  An undisclosed "high-end audio system' was also used.

Edo Competition designed the DBS conversion for a customer in Russia.  The tuning firm has not yet said if they will release the package to the general public.

i love edo competition's work usually, but not this one. why modify it to a 'DBS'? and not something even more special? for that customer in Russia, and you gone thru the trouble to put DBS in the seat and sill plate? Just trade in your DB9 and get a real one.

They could keep this kit, wait till the DB9 & DBS facelift and sell it. This just look better than the facelift DB9&S

Why this customer from Russia won't buy an original DBS. Custom made kit conversion for one customer must cost a fortune.

It would make some sense if you already had a DB9 andwanted a DBS, but a side-by-side comparison (driving, not just looking) would be interesting if they were to release the conversion...

Hmph, there's no need for this kit. All Astons look exactly the same. And you ppl say VW and Audi are boring.

You have no idea what you taking about, All AM do not look the same, you clearly tell the diffrence between a Vantage and a DB and the same goes for a DB9 and DBS. Before you say something stupid, do some reading first. wait you can read right.......

They certainly have a similar design element, there's no arguing that. However, when that design is arguably the most sexy and timeless designs of this era I find it hard to complain. Audi and VW shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath with their pedestrian and largely forgettable coachwork - the R8 excepted.
