Abarth to launch Essesse versions on 500C & Punto Evo this year
Fiat Abarth 500C

New performance models from Fiat and Abarth will hit the market this November. Essesse versions of the Punto Evo Abarth and the 500C will feature power upgrades as well as improvements in suspension.

The Punto Evo will get an upgraded 1.4 turbo motor which will take it from 122 kW (163bhp / 166 PS) to 134 kW (180 bhp/ 182 PS). It will also make use of a stiffer suspension and stronger brakes.

The topless 500C will be provided with 117kW (157 bhp/ 159 PS) which can be accessed through a quicker-shifting MTA automated gearbox with 5 speeds. Abarth plans to introduce several more enhancements over the next couple of years, including a double-clutch transmission for the Punto and Multiair engines in the 500.

Prices are expected to hover around £19,000 (US$28,000) for the Punto Evo and £20,000 (US$29,500) 500C Essesse.

Previous Punto Abarth Essesse had problem with traction. I read in a magazine that more power makes traction and steering difficult and essesse package suprisingly spoiled the fun. Hope Fiat will manage to fix the problem or maybe it was only a journalist's bad day-))

The same power output with a new MultiAir engine? Come on Fiat, give the Punto 200 horsepower please. It really needs it.
