UK Honda dealers to sell official MUGEN tuning parts
2011 Honda Civic Type R MUGEN 200 Limited Edition

Launches with parts for Civic Type R

Honda has announced eight UK dealers will begin selling MUGEN parts and accessories.

At launch, dealers (see the press release for the full list) will only offer parts for the current Honda Civic Type R (FN2). While this is a bit of a bummer, owners can purchase body kits, forged aluminum wheels, performance brake pads, quick shift kits, and sports suspensions. Eventually, MUGEN parts will be offered for additional models.

According to MUGEN Europe's Colin Whittamore, "We are delighted to be teaming up with some knowledgeable and enthusiastic Honda dealers who will bring MUGEN products to a wider audience. Although MUGEN has been in Japan for over 35 years, we are a relatively new company to the UK market, and outside of motorsport and serious tuning enthusiasts, we may not yet be a household name. Through this program we are looking forward to attracting new and existing customers to experience why MUGEN has been renowned for many years as a world leader in motorsport."

Eight Honda dealers across the UK have launched the MUGEN Original Parts Programme, to supply Honda owners with a range of tuning parts, accessories and merchandise from the company's long-standing engine tuning partner.

The programme launches with special authorised MUGEN parts for the current FN2 Civic Type R, including forged aluminium wheels, performance brake pads, quick shift kits and sports suspension. The range also includes body styling kits for the Civic.

The dealers involved in the programme are:

  • Avonvale Honda (Midlands)
  • Bristol Honda (South West)
  • Inchcape Honda (South East)
  • Brayley Honda (Home Counties)
  • Two Mills Honda (North West)
  • Phoenix Honda (Scotland & Borders)
  • Ewens of Cornhill (Highlands)
  • Donnelly & Taggart (Northern Ireland)

Colin Whittamore, from MUGEN Euro, said: "We are delighted to be teaming up with some knowledgeable and enthusiastic Honda dealers who will bring MUGEN products to a wider audience. Although MUGEN has been in Japan for over 35 years, we are a relatively new company to the UK market, and outside of motorsport and serious tuning enthusiasts, we may not yet be a household name. Through this programme we are looking forward to attracting new and existing customers to experience why MUGEN has been renowned for many years as a world leader in motorsport."

Parts requiring fitment by Honda dealers are covered by a 12 month/ 10,000 mile warranty, and other accessories are covered by a standard manufacturing defects warranty.

Original MUGEN parts for other Honda models will be introduced over the next 12 months.

Why do they sell Mugen parts now, when Honda no longer makes great sporty cars like they did in the 90s/00s? It's a bit too late by now...

 M! M!
it's interesting how something as intuitive as selling performance parts from a collaborating company took 35 years. didn't the UK bmw dealers sell schnitzer parts and USA ones sell dinan parts (in addition to the most obvious M stuff), with warranty?

I notice there's no mention of power upgrades. Considering their demonstration car (Mugen Civic Type-R - the one in these pictures with the outrageous bodykit and arguably pointless rear wing) has 247bhp from a normally aspirated engine, I would've thought at least a sports exhaust or something basic like that would be on offer? Anyway, MUGEN is Honda's "BRABUS", so more will be on the way. I hope a power upgrade eventually comes out for this car. It only has 1bhp more than the old Type-R, and weighs more. They also need a power-up for the 120bhp CR-Z "Sports" Hybrid...
