Inspired by the HED-5 iMode concept

Our spies have caught a Hyundai i30-based MPV undergoing testing in the Alps.

While heavily camouflaged, the prototype is expected to resemble the HED-5 iMode concept which debuted at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. This means the van will feature sporty styling, a sloping roofline, and a uniquely shaped C-pillar. Inside, the MPV will offer seating for seven, a two-tone interior, and an elegant dashboard.

Under the hood, engine options will likely include a 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol and a 1.7-liter four-cylinder diesel. The latter will produce 113 bhp (84 kW / 115 PS) and 255 Nm (188 lb-ft) of torque, while emitting 139 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

Expected to go on sale in spring 2011, the i30 MPV will likely be unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March.
