2011 Saleen s302

Saleen debuted the all-new S302 at the Carlisle Ford Nationals. The car is based on the 2011 Ford Mustang 5.0 and it uses the same engine. This is the hard top model, but convertibles will also be available.

From the V8 motor comes 317 kW (425 bhp / 431 PS) and peak torque of 536 Nm (395 lb-ft). Mated to it is a 6-speed manual gearbox driving the rear wheels with the help of a limited slip differential (LSD).

Other performance items include a Saleen Performance exhaust system and Racecraft suspension upgrades. Wheels are Saleen Speedstar seven-spoke chrome alloys riding on 20-inch Pirelli P Zero Rosso tyres.

The interior is decked with a piano black centre console, leather bucket seats with Ultrasuede inserts, new gauges and a leather-wrapped gear lever.

Expect to find the Saleen S302 on US showroom floors this summer. Pricing will be announced close to market launch.

I love how they use the number 302. I hate all that Metric 5.0 bull that they use nowadays. This is very reminiscent of the good days. Let's all start using Cubic Inches when referring to engines, lets show the numbers right on the hoods, 302, 327, 350, 427 and so on. Inches, Yards, Miles, anything with a "meter" at the end belongs nowhere on an American car.

You have to have one to judge. I have a modified supersnake and it is nuts. In a straight line I killed my friends M5 lumma?

Yeah, but when you eventually hit a slight bend, the M5 blasted past?

997, Mustang may be powerful with a lot of torque, but all they good for are drag races. like Kepex said, the m5, and pretty much any other sports car with destroy the stang and vette in a real race.

dmanero, watch your tongue. The BMW M5 E60 cannot beat a Corvette in a real race. I'll just go by the ring times because thats what everyone here is familiar with. A base Corvette C6 with the Z51 suspension package, still putting out only 430hp, beats the M5 by 14 seconds, a stock Cadillac CTS-V beats the M5 by 14 seconds as well. When we move up to the 505hp ZO6 we see a full 24 second gap, I can balance a checkbook in that time. ZR1, now we are talking about a 47 second lead, I've waited less time at the DMV!

That may be try, but nothing beats german engineering, and well nothing is more boring than a mustang or a corvette. Period.

"That may be try"!?!? Actually that proves it beats german engineering. Boring, I drove an M6 convert last week, a V10, and it made no impression on me. The most fun out of any car I have ever driven was behind the wheel of a Roush 427R. Your purpose here is just to make stupid comments that hold no truth or meaning. I love cars from all makes and models, but I'm not ignorant about the pro's and con's of each. The M5 is a great car but let's not give it more credit than it's due. I'm actually pissed at myself for even typing this as a response to your ignorance, but I typed it so I'm sending it.

dmanero.... Nothing beats having more than 20 cars..... lol... Yet you have to experience that so you wouldn?t call some cars you can?t afford boring?. Ooh for twisty roads I use my STI or GT3RS...

Nice. But I think in the Shelby Super Snake design looks better as well as in Roush . But it's still nice

Isn't it a bit overdone? I mean the hood is really big just like one on IS-F

This round of Shelby-tuned ponies may be the last full-on tuner model offered directly from Shelby. In the future, the model will likely be trim and tune packages offered as dealer options. No doubt the performance image of these GT revivals will live on, but this may be the last actual performer, so get it while it's hot!

I don't believe Saleen has anything to do with Shelby.
