Thank you BMW! Is it going to be a twin turbo inline six for the BMW 1 Coupe? What I am looking forward from BMW is their all new twin turbo 2-liter inline four to take on VAG's 2.0 TFSI. Exciting indeed!

Hmmm, any 0-60 guesses? How about cost? I am sure will be higher then then it's worth (22hp only!!!) considering the current 135i pricing. On the other hand if it gets to the 360-370hp, I would consider.

BMW is currently claiming a 5.3sec for 0-62 (to be precise ;)) so it could get down to a sub 5 time.
i just hope they are makin it lighter than the series 135i with a carbon fiber hood e.g.
so it wont be a power upgrade t the usual 135i as the z4 35is is...

Their claims are bs. The 135 and the 335i have been known to be sub 5 seconds since the day they came out.
The e46 m3 has an official time of 4.7 and they are just about dead even with the 335I's.

Current M5 has been tested at 4.6 seconds 0 - 100km/h. E90 M3 at 4.9 seconds, 135i at 5.3 seconds.

I hope it gets a decent oil cooler. Their current turbo's suck for the track. 2 laps max then the power gets pulled WAY back

I'm just wondering, because the 135i is already lighter than the M3 and smaller which are all advantages including an engine that can compete with current M3s, add to that a stonkingly powerful engine and you have a car that has more performance than a M3 at a cheaper price. I'm just wondering, I'd hate to lose an icon like the M3.

Same reason as why the S3 and S4 can co-exist. Completely diff. market For the price of an M3 U get an M3 sound, M3 handling (ie. tech advancements, carbon fiber, etc.), M3 Space, M3 comfort, M3 Look (3 series coupe), etc. Because when buying one, on-track isnt always most important. The point of the M3 is- its an M3, not an M5,not an M1 (or 1M...), and thats why some will chose ONLY an M3 and nothing else.

Weak... let's face it this thing will probably cost over 40 grand, maybe used off lease will be in the mid 30's range not including any specific options such as nav, logic 7, btooth etc. considering also the very small size of it, idk, i really don't see the purpose of this. by then the used RS4 and C63 will probably be the same price, who would want to get this car over them...!!

I think BMW has proved pretty well lately with their many offerings that purpose has little to do with selling a car. There is high demand for this car. It takes us back to the good ole days of the E30 M3.

Would take a nice handling, nice sounding and nice appearing BMW 1 (ti?/is?) everyday over an clumsy, dull sounding Audi or an overweight MB.
Just my opinion though.

I was just saying the C63 and the RS4 are much more of a car then the 135i will ever be. On the other hand each car RS4, M, and C63 have their own personalities, drive style, as well strengths, that are driven but certain types of drivers that like the car for it has to offer more then the other. But please, to compare performance of a 135i (or m) to an RS4 and C63 it is laughable...

I hope M GmbH will prioritize weight and will throw out everything non essential like audio, navigation, electric seats, leather, sound dampening, maybe even electric windows and A/C.... and drill some hinges like they did on the E46 M3 CSL, add some more carbon and aluminum...that would make an awesome car!

A lot of money for a very small car, also BMW looks like 15 years ago

If you do all of that to a car, it becomes purely a car for the track! I thought the main purpose of BMW M class, Mercedes AMG class, Audi RS class is to provide a performance car mixed with the luxury of each brand for your daily use. If you strip the car off from all your luxury options, then the car becomes a different a different car and no longer fits in this class.
