Ken Block vs. Kimi Raikkonen showdown ends with photo finish [Video]

The 44th Rally de Portugal kicked off last week with a Super Special stage featuring several one-on-one races around a tight track built into Algarve Stadium.  Amongst the combatants: Former F1 champ Kimi Raikkonen and DC Shoe founder/ rally racer Ken Block.

The result: an impressive tie.

"As soon as we found out that we'd be going up against Kimi on opening night on a tarmac Super Special, pressure started building, so to raise the stakes even more, I decided to bet Kimi that I'd beat him,” Block reportedly said. “To be honest, I wasn't expecting to win, but was willing to lose a 100 Euros on the chance to wax a former F1 World Champ.”

After two laps on the one-kilometer course, both Block and Raikkonen crossed the finish line at 2-minutes 11.0-seconds.

Seems to me as well. He got that last turn way better than Block and he carried out more speed out of it. I think it was something like a 100-th of a second, but on close inspection, Kimi is crossing the line ein Augenblick before Ken.

Block also had the tighter line which is much harder to make clean without drifting and extremely hard to carry speed out of on such a narrow course

Well, The DC videos is just a lot of takes, after he has practised the run like 10 times. He is just a show-off. I bet Kimi would beat him in any kind of race, with any type of car! I don't consider drifting as a real motorsport...

a lot of his video is from the us rally series, in which ken block has done quite well. 6th out of 230 in 2009

Wow, what a close race. I'm a more of a fan of Ken Block because of his drifting skill and that Monster energy livery on his Focus.

Yeah Ken Block isn't much of a rally driver, just show man. Even a formula 1 driver can beat him in rally xD

is it true that finlands have to take rally - like test to get their driving license ? just wondering

No. We do have a wet/slippery track day that is part of the driver's license _training_, but that's it. The slippery track training includes driving in a bend and the teacher pulling the handbrake at a random point and you have to keep the car under control. And different kinds of emergency brakings and collision avoidance practices. The test itself consists of driving around in a city and a little bit on a bigger road. No rally or anything spectacular there.
