Mercedes S350 to be only U.S. diesel S-Class
Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Rated at 241 hp (179 kW / 244 PS) and 429 lb-ft (581 Nm) of torque

According to a recent report, Mercedes will introduce the S350 BlueTec in the United States.

Set to become the only diesel-powered S-Class in America, the S350 will feature a 3.0-liter V6 with AdBlue urea injection technology. Rated at 241 hp (179 kW / 244 PS) and 429 lb-ft (581 Nm) of torque, the S350 BlueTec is a tad more powerful than the S350 CDI BlueEFFICENCY which churns out 235 hp (175 kW / 238 PS) and 398 lb-ft (539 Nm) of torque.

Backed up by a seven-speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the S350 will likely accelerate from 0-60 mph in 7.8 seconds before topping out at an electronically limited 155 mph. While it's not fast, the S350 could potentially get an EPA fuel economy rating of 25+ mpg on the highway.

Look for the 2011 S350 BlueTec to start arriving at U.S. dealerships later this year with a base price below $87,950.

eh... thts nice. if diesel was cheaper, and easier to get, Id almost consider it. what I really want is a SWB S class... and no more R class

For the same price I'd rather the S550 instead and keep the extra 140bhp, but for a car service this is very good. I've been seeing a lot of S550s as taxis (not as yellow cabs but the ones that you call for), might as well go for the diesel and get some MPG.

agreed. i've got a pre-facelift AMG and it looks a lot better without the LEDs in my opinion.

Yeah...where exactly do they get the urea from? Make those MPGs matter and install an "onboard waste collection" system that takes the urea straight from the passengers ;) Look ma, no stops!
