 2011 Citroen C4 Revealed
2011 Citroen C4, 1600, 01.06.2010

On sale next year

The 2011 Citroen C4 has been revealed on the web.

Set to go on sale next year, the redesigned hatchback features aggressive headlights, a bolder grille, and additional chrome accents. Out back, there's a roof-mounted spoiler, a classier rear bumper, and modern taillights.

Inside, the cabin boasts a massive steering wheel, metallic accents, and an improved center stack. Other goodies include a high-tech instrument cluster (which offers a variety of a setting), 408 liters of cargo capacity, and an eTouch system that monitors fuel consumption and driving habits. On the options list there are massaging front seats, a blind-spot monitoring system, and a panoramic sunroof.

Under the hood, we can expect the usual turbocharged petrols and HDi diesels. More importantly, Citroen will launch a C4 Hybrid with a 1.6-liter e-HDi diesel engine. While details are limited, the hybrid will feature regenerative braking, an engine stop/start system, and low-rolling resistance tires. Emissions are expected to be 109 g/km, but those numbers could fall to 99 g/km in more eco-friendly variants.

Look for more information to be released when the C4 is officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show.

THE NEW CITROËN C4: FIRST DETAILS REVEALED

Citroën has released first details of the brand new C4. Designed to exceed the highest expectations, the New Citroën C4 boasts a real positive energy - with exceptional levels of quality, style, interior space and occupant comfort, as well as responsive handling and impressive environmental credentials.

As with the New C5 in 2008 and New C3 earlier this year, the New Citroën C4 once again demonstrates the expertise of the brand in creating stylish and innovative vehicles with relevant technological advances.

With its sculpted lines and high quality finish, New C4 cuts a distinctive profile, striking an impression of strength, stability and balanced proportions. Defined and flowing surfaces, such as the purposeful front end and rear spoiler, hint at the model’s optimised aerodynamics. The tasteful addition of chrome detailing combines with the dynamic headlight styling and sculpted alloy wheels to give the new model a premium presence.

Promising precise control and accomplished handling, New C4’s driver focused cabin environment combines with impressive acoustic comfort and soundproofing to deliver a true impression of on-road confidence.

New C4 features compact exterior dimensions and generous internal volumes that make it spacious and thoroughly versatile. At just 4.33m long, 1.79m wide and 1.49m high, New C4 is just 5cm longer, 2cm wider and 3cm taller than the current model. The 408-litre boot is the biggest in its class, with practical square dimensions and a lower sill that makes loading even easier.

In addition to optimised accessibility and practicality, the New C4 offers a genuine feeling of well-being on-board
- with spacious, comfortable seating and impressive occupant headroom. Personal comfort in the New C4 can be tailored to suit individual requirements with users able to adjust the colour of the driver’s instrument display, select their own ‘polyphonic’ sound alerts, finely adjust the intensity of the air-conditioning and even immerse themselves in the rich surround-sound of the new audio system. Some models even come with a new massage function on the front seats.

Wow, I would not have expected that to be a Citroen. That looks alot better than the old and dull C4.

Looks like the new Astra, with Lancer headlights.

It does, but exterior line seems to be more dynamic. Hope will be more space inside than Astra has, because it's very closely inside.

Doesn't look weird enough to be a Citroen. Why did they get rid of the fixed-hub steering wheel?

You're right! That steering wheel was so cool.

I actually prefer the outgoing C4, this one looks cheaper to make and it is for China than Europe. Guess playing safe is not a bad idea at all.

I don't know what to say. That's a Citroen. It should look like a Citroen not like some German hatch. If you choose to look Teutonic-like, you have to be at least as good as one of these, or you're just a pathetic German hatch wannabe. It was Ok when your Citroen wouldn't start in the morning because it was a very apart looking car and that was the main reason for it to exist. Now what? It's an A3, or an Astra or whatever you'd like "to be". Don't loose your identity Citroen!

I agree. It looks pretty good, no question, but why it isn't look outstanding? Where is the avantgarde? The current C4 has the style, you know from Citroen. Ecspecially the Coupé. This new one looks good, but nothing special between Astra, Impreza and A3.. only the sidelines are really unique and I like the new grille

I think on the road will be much more distinctive from other compact models and you will see that it is a Citroen

Seen the gauges? Try telling me they aren't futuristic.

Interior looks nice, modern and better organized. Exterior is ok too. Reminds me a little of Audi A1 look (front of the car)
