Old? It was new of about two years ago, wasn't it? Not sure why there is a picture of a Range Rover Sport, as I thought this article related to the proper Range Rover. I am guessing this is just a current model upgrade rather than a replacement. Will we see the same V8 diesel in the XJ I wonder...?

The Lion Diesel engine is about 6 or 7 years old. Not a bad engine at all really. The evolution of the Lion V8 is to 4.4L and was originally intended for Ford's F-150/etc although I'm sure Land Rover's cars figured into the plan. I would think this is the engine that they're planning on putting in.

These new diesels are awesome. No smell, min noise, excellent power and less maintence with long service life.

Can't polish a turd....nice looking unit. POS to drive and own, unless you love spending time at the dealership for warranty work, and of course if you love a unit that depreciates more than anything else on the road. Boo Land Rover, boo.

i think i know a car that depreciates more than a LR. it's a citroen (of course they dont have big suvs.. and they're like plastic toy cars) but still... rangies are nice. it's too bad they dont have the succes of german suvs and...other about this new engine. they get a nice torque figure out of it, but comparing it to audis 4.2 tdi, it kinda sux.
