Cadillac 7-seat Crossover confirmed

 Cadillac 7-seat Crossover confirmed
Cadillac XTS Concept

Cadillac is definitely going ahead with a 7-seat crossover vehicle. An Inside Line chat with GM's Karl Stracke has revealed such plans. Before GM's bankruptcy, rumours had hinted a vehicle of this nature would be based on the Lambda platform architecture currently used in cars like the Buick Enclave and the Chevrolet Traverse.

Not much more information was divulged but expectations place it with a face similar to the Cadillac XTS concept unveiled at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show and may still be based on the Lambda platform.

One possible engine is the 3.6-litre V6, but that does not stop the General from experimenting with turbo power. Competitors are already reaping the rewards of V8 power with V6 fuel efficiency from using smaller, more potent turbo engines.

LOL, very good reply. I'm amazed you didn't pull a yo momma joke. Pray tell, why would we be grateful for Cadillac?

Why would you be grateful to Cadillac, GM, or anything American? 1) Up until the last 17 months, the United States was the BIGGEST market for M-B, BMW, Audi, Jaguar, Rolls-Royce, and Porsche. #2 ain't anything to sneeze at either. 2) O-P-E-L/(Vauxhall). 3) First mass production V8, that would be Cadillac. 4) Pumping tons of money into Volvo, Jaguar, Saab, and Land Rover. 5) The $2 billion that GM ended up having to pay Fiat for NOT taking over Fiat (who was the lawyer on that one?). 6) Because the European Union is going to go through some really tough times really soon and you better be nice to the people who you're going to ask to help bail you out. Something tells me that U.S. will exact a smaller toll than the Chinese, but you can go ahead and hedge your bets, by all means.

And what does that have to do with Cadillac today? Nothing. Cadillac is irrelevant in Europe, this car, if it ever becomes reality, will also be irrelevant in Europe. They haven't been a respected brand over here for a very long time. And, come on, if the US market and China are really that important, why do they keep trying bringing Cadillac over and making it sucessful over and over and over again, and failing? Why not invest in all those other, apparently more interesting markets instead? Also, this is a car forum, i won't discuss politics with you ( altough i can tell you right now the US won't be bailing anyone out of anything anytime soon. They have plenty of problems themselves ), but if you would bother reading what was said before you'd see that the gratitude issue wasn't raised by me.

This type of car should be successful simply based on the US market alone (as the Escallade has been). No need to try to sell it in Europe (except perhaps to a select few football-soccer players and movie stars). The roads are smaller, garages are smaller, gas is more expensive, most countries have huge luxury taxes and the product just doesn`t fit the market. Its like trying to market BMW or Mercedes Combis or Shooting Brakes or whatever designer name they have these days, in the U.S.

Why Europe needs an American car that is much worse than the European for almost the same price...90% of u.s. cars cannot pass european standards...Europe is world?s richest region but that is why quality is on first place :)

I am not touting the superiority of American cars over European ones. I drive a BMW myself. But, I believe that this product from Cadillac will sell and be successful based on US demand alone. It should not be sold in Europe for many reasons but those reasons are hardly because, as you say... "Europe is world's richest region ...and quality is in first place". I do concede that you have some superior powers because you can tell the amount of plastic content from a single front-elevation shot, but, that last statement is a reach even for someone with such powers.

Of course, legendary mark, but it is necessary to recognise Cadillac obvious - the today's exterior of Cadillac is simply awful. More awfully Cadillac only Japanese - already Koreans do cars more beautifully! It is necessary to employ talented designers who make its beautiful.
