Fans of the Mercedes-Benz CLS will be happy to look at these perfectly clear images of the unreleased second-generation car.  The vehicle was spied by magazine AutoExpress and website SecretNewCars.com during a promotional photo shoot.

The car can be seen with a much nicer front fascia, that includes a single-bar radiator grille, new headlights, and three-section bumper with set-in LED daytime runners.  The deeper styling continues along the side of the car, where new mirrors attached to the door can also be seen.

Look under the hood of this Mercedes-Benz CLS 350CGI and you would likely find the same 3.5-liter V6 engine from the Shooting Brake concept introduced in China earlier this year.  The 302-horsepower (225-kW, 306-PS) engine produces up to 370 Nm of torque.

Rear lighting clusters are more flared, and are now joined by a low center brake light.  Trapezoid tailpipes replace the rounder exhaust tips seen on the current model.

The next-generation Mercedes-Benz CLS is expected to take a bow at the Paris Motor Show later this year.

Looks awesome!! I love the rear lights, looks almost italian, like Maserati or so. The first CLS was great, but this is even better. This will look unbelieveable as AMG version.

Thanks for the link 3Iceman. I still need some convincing on the design, it's too bulky, makes the wheels look tiny. I think the design is great but too busy though..

I really like the design but it would be interesting to see the new CLS parked next to previous version. Just like ivanporcalla said, it looks big.

i dont know about this... no doubt i will like it in person... but the front end reminds me too much of the third gen liberty/legacy from subaru... not really sure how that's able to be taken as a compliment... but we'll wait and see for the promo shots and finally in the flesh to pass final judgement!
