BMW 5 Series orders exceed expectations
2011 BMW 5-series F10 Sedan 20.05.2010

The all-new BMW 5 Series has exceeded its maker's own sales forecasts by a mile, according to a report by Bloomberg. Unveiled in November last year, the F10 5-Series was launched in Europe this past March and is apparently selling like the proverbial hot cakes.

After losing money in 2009 the world's biggest maker of premium cars aims to improve its lot considerably in 2010. Cars like the X1 and 5-Series will help it achieve its target operating margin in the "lower one-digit percentage range." CEO Norbert Reithofer said his team is pushing for at least 1.3 million unit sales this year. However, challenges such as the lingering recession as well as Greece's financial problems and its effect on the euro currency could affect these plans.

BMW took the top premium automaker crown from the Mercedes-Benz brand in 2005 and has not looked back since, although Audi seems to be making a serious challenge for it.

I did like the Bangle 5 Series a lot, and this one is amazing too. But... with the 5 and 7 looking so close together, I think it's going the wrong direction. Still kudos on the orders.

Ok it looks like a 7er and actually sence the existing of the 5er it was and still and will be designed based on the 7er thats why always BMW release a new 7 before 5 But the thing which annoys me a lot is why BMW make the 5er interior looks exactly the same as the 7er? A8 and S class have their own indevidual interior so why BMW doesn't do the same thing? Giving the 5er the same interior of the 7er reduces the value of the 7er

the styling of this 5er is basically a smash up of the 3 and 7, and a little safer and not as exciting as the one it replaces. may be they just want to broaden the appeal.

I think its nice...but yes the interior looks almost the same with most other BMW passenger cars... They need some originality there. And maybe the can make the Front Fascia a little more aggressive...that would make it perfect. I have a feeling that this 5 series is a winner...as it is based on a Winner the E39 (the best sedan ever).

Greece's financial problems and its effect on the euro currency makes the euro cheaper compared to other currencies... wich should increase sales globally

I think as it is a bland one but much classier than Audi. So many will change to this brand. There is a lot of purely technical and engineering reasons as well. Engines e.g. or drivebility issues and interior design comes first to mind. I think BMW's late success is based on underestimated Bangle's design too. They need him back.

You are incorrect but on the right track. Us 5-er owner are desperate to buy a new version, but stuck on the E39 model because the E60 is UGLY (Thanks to Bangle). So this one looks like was based to replace the E39 and is like a breath of fresh air. The right order is restored!!!

i think no matter the car is beautiful or not, there are always some idiots who say it's ugly.. coz it's so easy to just say it's ugly and they think they can do better than bmw ... i am not a bmw fan, but i think this is a beautifully designed 5er.. it is much sleeker than stupid audi which i don't have any comment on because it's just bland, boring, tasteless and lack of passion and soul. for me, audi is just a machine that moves.. it should compete with caterpillar instead..

I cant wait for this to go on the used market (Cant afford a new one) I got an E39 and was going to switch to Audi for a replacement (because Bangle E60 is UGLY UGLY UGLY), but I stuck to my Bimmer and now this is the REWARD. This is the most exciting BMW car release I've experienced. I was really hoping the new 5 will look at least ok (anything to replace E60)-- but it turned out to be a looker. THANK YOU BMW!!!

the one thing i loved about bangle designs is that they were out there and unmistakable and even today the E60 still looks good and you cant help but notice it, still have to see this in person to judge it because it doesnt have that wow effect on pics

I drove one a few days ago, the ride is nice... As far as looking like a 7er, who cares at least it is a beemer... Now Hyundia-kia imitate the body shape of Euro cars, especially when you look at the rear lights… 5er is really elegant!
