Aston Martin One-77 receives mysterious bulk order of 10 units totaling $17M
Aston's #1 fan
A mysterious car enthusiast has apparently bought ten Aston Martin One-77s for $17.7 million dollars (£12m / €14m).
While the company isn't saying anything, insiders have stated the buyer has specified a unique exterior color and cabin for each car. Perhaps the client, who is believed to be Middle Eastern, wanted one for each day of the week and three for holidays?
The One-77 is powered by a 7.3-liter V12 engine with approximately 700 bhp (522 kW / 710 PS). While detailed performance specifications haven't been released, a pre-production prototype hit a top speed of 220 mph (355 km/h).
With this massive order, which represents 13% of the total production run of 77 cars, only 12 One-77s have been spoken for.

I heard a rumor that the person who bought these in bulk got one for each of his daughters, but then again its only a rumor. I wouldn't be surprised, though.

Maybe it's a "smash my PS3" esque thing where he'll go outside an Aston dealer and set fire to 9 of them in front of customers.

Now I would add my two cents to this, but then WCF will probably ban me and delete my post like the last time.

I read somewhere that he actually paid $23million after AM refused to sell him so many, after that price they couldn't say no. And that all cars are bought as gifts.

With all due respect to WCF readers, but you need to educate yourselves more!
Being Middle Eastern does not necessarily mean an Arab, that's first.
Second, whether the customer bought the cars because he or she loves AM and appreciate this British company, or because they wanted to resell them and make money off them, that is solely their business and one does not have the right to give them names. We have to understand that the targeted customer for this company is one within the High-middle class or within the High class. So if any one going to buy a car from this customer, is another wealthy customer and they are out of league of most of the respected WCF readers. Always remembers, it's not personal, it's business. Car manufacturers do not make cares because they love you! They do because they want to make profit, so might as well if the customer is able to do so, let them do so!

Wise words other than I would question your assumption that welathy means "high class". Most class systems are based on a long heritage, where the pecking order was established a long time ago based on a set of metrics that aren't really that important or relevant any more. You can't buy your way into a class system, so wealth doesn't mean anything other than you are a richer occupant of the class your family has been born into for generations.
This does sound like an Arab or Russian purchase. Good luck to them. Aston was truggling to shift them and the Sultan of Brunei kept both Aston and Rolls-Royce alive during the 80s when no-one else would touch them.

Problem is that we're all car enthusiast here, we all love cars, we make cars a part of us

Read about this somewhere days ago, come on WCF keep'em coming faster

My first thought would be the Sultan of Brunei... but since it came from the Middle East... it is out of this subject. Money speaks louder than words, I must say.

All comments above Erzhic are written by poor peasants, Why??? Because the man who made the order paid for it. If he chooses to drive a deferent Aston everyday, well he freakin paid for it... If the order hadn’t been made, would any of you have bought a One-77??? I think not!!! Passing judgment on something that’s not yours is another good reason to seek therapy… How hateful….. Big babies….

as I heard the buyer is sheikh from Middle East who bought each car for each member of his family - that´s why every Aston Martin is specified in different coulour and trim - but the price is wrong ´cause he had to pay totally 23 millions - 6 millions was Aston Martin charge due to buying 10 cars from 77pcs limited edition

Say what you like, buying 10 of only 77 cars is selfish greed. I would die very happy with just one.
May 19, 2010 1:11 am
It would be just stupid to leave those cars unsold on the lot... If you don’t have the wallet for it don’t hate…

just immagine in a few years there wont't be AM anymore because of the crisis. This guy will maybe have the only ten produced one-77. Guess what they would cost! That's a well calculated investment. Check out the prices for BMW's Z8 for example.

Could also be for some new hotel being built in Dubai, from what i hear those hotels have a pretty nice selection of rental cars. Could be some marketing ploy, who knows. Or could be gifts, who knows, who cares, this car is a ripoff anyways. For the price of one i would buy a Phantom(comfort), Zonda R(speed), Brabus G63 V12(pulling the fishing boat/winter)...

What I find striking in the above report is the fact that beside the "mysterious buyer" they only have 2 other buyers commited to buy that thing....

All I have to say is I'm so sick of this story. This is old news and has been reported a few times (in 2009) why does it keep coming up?? Slow news day . . . .

The one-77 isnt a very beautiful car. hyper cars are supposed to be unique. it just looks like a swollen vantage.
