Lexus prices LFA Nurburgring Edition package at $70,000
Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition - 1600 - 29.03.2010

We know Lexus will sell a limited edition of the already-limited production LFA. What we did not know, until now, is the price tag. According to the automaker, the LFA Nürburgring Package will cost US$70,000 (MSRP) on top of the US$375,000 (€295,300) potential customers are expected to part with. A matt black exterior can be had for an extra US$20,000.

Only 50 units of the 500 planned for global production will be set aside for the Nürburgring Package, making this 4.8-litre V10-powered supercar even more exclusive. An additional 10 horses have been added along with a sport-tuned suspension, high-grip tyres, a larger front spoiler and a fixed rear wing among others.

Lexus Introduces 2012 LFA Nürburgring Package

  • 50 Units Available
  • Nürburgring Race Car Influenced Styling and Performance
  • 562 Horsepower and Quicker Gear Changes

TORRANCE, Calif. (May 10, 2010) - Lexus announced today it will offer a limited edition Nürburgring Package to LFA customers.

"This Nürburgring Package builds on the track-ready Lexus supercar with styling cues from the 24 Hours of Nürburgring prototype LFA racecar," said Mark Templin, Lexus Division group vice president and general manager. "Driving enthusiasts will also appreciate the Nürburgring Package's performance enhancements that were proven on the legendary German track."

The 4.8L V10 engine for Nürburgring Package equipped LFA's will produce 562 horsepower, 10 more horsepower than the standard high-performance LFA. The gear-shift time has been reduced by 0.05 seconds to only 0.15 seconds for even faster gear changes.

The Nürburgring Package is limited to only 50 units out of the 500 LFA hand-assembled for global distribution. It will also have the following features:

# A sport-tuned suspension, exclusive black mesh-type wheels and dedicated high-grip tires for better handling;
# And a larger front spoiler and fixed rear wing for improved high speed down force.

This limited edition LFA will be available in four exterior colors - whitest white, orange, black and matte black complemented by a choice of three interior colors - black, red, and violet. All come with a carbon fiber center console and door trim. The Nürburgring Package will carry a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $70,000. Matte black will carry an additional cost of $20,000. The standard LFA carries a MSRP of $375,000.

In addition to the Nürburgring vehicle specifications, a package of special privileges is included in association with the Nürburgring course itself. The perks comprise, but are not limited to, private parking, co-pilot ride, one night at the Lindner Congress and Motorsport Hotel Nürburgring, private training with Nürburgring chief driving instructor, a Nürburgring branded jacket, as well as a one-year annual pass valid for driving on the Nordschleife and admission to ring°werk leisure park.

Unless the car is made out of laser cut titanium, NASA technology, and comes with a spare chick they can shove it!!! $70 on top of $375 for Japanese!!! Someone needs to slap them into reality? When the GTR came out it was a bit pricy to order, then the price became a bit more realistic? Is this Toyotas answer, offering something with a more ridiculous price tag? I bet many will say it?s a super breed, I don?t care it?s a Jap and it has no roots? Hell, I?ll buy one and convert it into a super Taxi? MTC.... U just guessed my latest addition ;)

I don't see where all this Jap-hatred comes from. They have sporting "roots", they're just more recent than Italy's or England's. Look at the Honda RA-272 F1 car from the mid-'60s, the original Nissan Skyline GT-R of the early '70s and the R32 GT-R that was nothing short of dominating (even being banned from what is now Aussie 'V8 Supercars' for being too fast). Then there's all the brilliant sports cars from such unlikely people - the Mazda RX-7, the Toyota Supra Twin Turbo, the Honda NSX that became Gordon Murray's benchmark when developing the mighty McLaren F1. As for the price, yes it's somewhat more expensive than any performance rivals, but it's more a demonstration of what Toyota is capable of, in the same way that the ?1.2m ONE-77 is a demonstration of what Aston Martin can do when it really flexes its muscles and throws financial caution to the wind. The materials and processes involved are very special, like making the carbon fibre with a giant loom. It's daftness only helps make it a supercar. Don't tell me a Lamborghini listens to reason. Don't tell me the Audi R8 V10 or any Porsche or Ferrari doesn't have an equally dizzying cost-options list. The nationality is all but irrelevant.

This car is one of those 'either get it or you don't' things. Clearly you don't. Hopefully you understand that Lexus is not out to profit on the LF-A. After ten years of development they're still losing money on every car that they sell. This car is supposed to showcase the latest technology, demonstrate the tremendous potential Toyota holds in building exclusive high-revving, demonic sounding performance cars. And personally, I think it looks amazing in person.

"Hopefully you understand that Lexus is not out to profit on the LF-A." Sure they are! Perhaps not in the literal sense, but as the current number one automaker in the world, they want to solidify their image and appeal to those loyal to other brands or who feel Toyota is just Japan's version of GM... I mean reliable grocery getters (no offense). I do appreciate this car and what it stands for but as for "roots" go, their two closest domestic rivals have a lot more pedigree to back them than they do. That's not to say I don't love the ambition but with all things considered, I still think if you were to give either Honda or Nissan the same amount of money they'd build you the same super car that would equal, if not beat the LFA on the track with some nice coinage left over!

What if it was exactly the same car with the same design and engine but with Ferrari or Lambo badge? will you say it deserves the price tag?

No car sounds like the LFa, therefore it is worth every penny. Why?.. because it's a supercar... and one that's made almost entirely out of CF. Lexus is basically selling a bunch of prototypes here. It's a technology showcase. Anyone that can get their hands on one these is one lucky MF'er. SO what if it's Japanese... If it had a Hyundai badge, it would still be worth it. And for anyone questioning 20K for a matte paint, you obviously don't know anything about what a perfect paint job costs.

cool. for those 50 LFA ring edition, x $70k, that's $3.5M to pay off some of the lawyers' fee for Toyota.

when it comes to supercars, I always prefer European Italian and German. However, we can't ignore the fact that Japs do have motorports roots, let't not forget the great EVO's and Impreza's they gave to the world

The supercar is super-ugly, and normally the supercars are pretty cool, sit very low, and have a nice "profile", but this one...that back end, its even worse than the ZR1! It has no head, its all shoulders! So, i'm not gonna be one of its owners! i don't like the car, apart from its performances.

agreed. don't know what the hype around this car is (other than performance) Supercars should be a balance of form and function. I would much rather have any supercar half this price.

I was talking about the LFA roots!!! not Japanese racing history... Anyway, I could be a proud owner of an LFA, but nope I will not pay any lawyer fees... Maybe if I see it... :)

It's a massively overpriced piece of crap. It's Just Toyota once again copying super cars from other companies, and I'm sure when or if they start advertising they're going to claim it's the thoroughbred to beat all others, even though it's not.

i don't get why a badge changes everything for people. So what if the lfa doesn't have heritage toyota bought a carbon fibre loom machine, 1 of only 2 available in the world! They've spent years fine tuning this car so it can handle properly and make sure your not parked on the side of the road everytime you go out with it, its also got one of the stiffest chasiss of any road legal car. With this car you gotta appreciate the engineering, thought and time gone into it.
