Volvo accidentally crashes S60 during safety demo [Video]
Oops
In an ironic twist of fate, a Volvo S60 accidentally crashed into a truck during a safety demonstration in Sweden.
The car was traveling at approximately 30 mph (48 km/h), towards a parked truck, and the collision warning system was supposed to stop the S60 before it hit the truck. Unfortunately, the system wasn't working and the S60 plowed into it.
The company later told Wired.co.uk the accident was caused by a problem with the car's battery. The company added that had person been driving, they would have realized the collision warning system wasn't working and could have taken evasive action.

Same happened to Mercedes a few years ago when testing the the Distronic feature of the then-new S-Class (221). Very embarrasing but such things happen, does not discredit the feature in general.

LOL nice one, I do remember the one from the S-Class as well, something about the smoke they used in the test prevented from working or something.. Here's the Volvo video again, hurry before they remove this one as well lol! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-eeLMsOk9c

S-Class system work just fine. What happen then was human error. Someone was switch system off and driver didn't notice that.

that's not correct, they switched of the system on purpose and mounted a piece of wood on the floor where the driver should brake. they wanted to make sure that the "test" works but something went wrong and the driver crashed into the back of another car.

in modern cars at lowish speeds the airbags won't go off because they're not needed. airbags can burn your arms and give you a concussion, so if there's no need for them (such as in this crash) then only a moron would want them to go off.

Sometimes things happens I remember the Mercedes issue too when they testing the system , is time for Volvo to check this important safety feature and eliminate the error. That's ok. Now the Mercedes system is excellent I hope Volvo works in the same way too.

Big Deal, Volvo is Junk now. Everybody's cars are just as safe or safer. Volvo needs a new Selling point since they have been trumped by pretty much everybody. A Safe Volvo is like a Fuel Efficient Chyrsler. Back in the day they were at the cutting edge, now they are just average or even below average.

i doubt Hyundai is anywhere close in any safety test to any Volvo LOL Not that I am trying to compare Hyundai to Volvo lmao I love Hyundai's ORIGINAL designs though LOL Very interesting how they patch worked together parts of different cars and call it a Hyundai then boast their 200hp V6 ummm yeah... Anyhow Volvo is still the leader when it come to safety and safety features without the price tag of a mercedes S-class with the new ORIGINAL design queues it is a hot combination.
