Audi A7 Sportback to be unveiled in Paris, RS7 to get 580 bhp
Audi A7 Sportback Concept

The Audi A7 Sportback is nearing the end of its development. Autocar reports that an official unveil will take place at this year's Paris Motor Show in September. UK sales would probably start in the first quarter of 2011.

Alongside smaller-engined variants like V6 petrols and diesels, the A7 will also get a thunderous RS 7 model. It is said to churn out 433 kW (580 bhp / 588 PS) from its 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine according to Autocar, although the 5.0-liter TFSI V10 from the RS6 with its 572 bhp (427 kW / 580 PS) might be a better candidate. Running all four wheels would be a 7-speed double clutch gearbox.

A four-door Sportback concept was first unveiled at the 2009 Detroit Motor Show. The production version, spied time and time again, is a primary competitor to the Mercedes-Benz CLS and a secondary rival to the likes of Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide.

it can only be 5.0 TFSI, because 5.2 TFSI doesn't exist! so it's engine from RS6 bye

Surely the R8 engine in a different state of tune. Which if I recall is a 5.2 FSI (natutally aspirated).

The sad thing is you will allways know what a current audi is going to look like. If you wanna know what the basic shape will be, check the a7 concept and there were even pics of the real thing here on wcf without any camo. And yes, it is nothing special. Audi a6 sportback xxl. I dont get why everyone seems to think that a liftback looks like a coupe.

i don't care about the details , the general shape of the back is ugly. at least the Panamera has the Porsche fat ass look, this one just doesn't flow.

Slight correction in the title. RS7 will most likely not debut in Paris, but the A7 Sportback will.

this sounds weird to me. i see people often confusing the 5,2 with a 5.0...whcih doesent xsists. audi has the 5.2, v10 which is inside the r8, rs6 and s8. and the rs6 has 2 turbos. the other ones are aspirated. so they will use the same engine, but aspirated, and make it more powerful than the rs6, and the r8 v10....and with no turbos. why doesnt the r8 doesnt have the turbos and 600bhp? thats the flagship car, isnt it?

The RS6 sports a 5.0L twin-turbo, as the 5.2 from the Gallarado LP 560-4 wouldn't fit in the engine bay with turbos. I believe every other V10 FSI from VWAG is a 5.2 (S6, R8 V10, Gallarado LP560-4).

They did try the twin turbo engine on the R8 during its development, but the prototype burst in flames during a Nurburgring lap, due to inadequate cooling. So they stuck to normally aspirated engines for the production model.
