I don't think it was his fault. I heard his big wooden shoe got jammed on the accelerator.

Bit strict of the Dutch, innit?
Land of legal drugs and sex, yet you can't drive fast?
Tallest race in the world now. It's the drugs!

the law is the law, 80km/h more than allowed is a lot. if it was a Sandero, then it wouldn't be in the news. the law shouldn't discriminate in favour of the rich and reckless.

Welcome to socialist Europe, where property means jack s*** to the state! So they took his license, he's off the street. Problem sold? No, 'cuz the state still needs to make money off people's mistakes! They should also punish all his 1st and 2nd grade relatives for his awful crime to make sure nobody ever does it again! Using the same figgin' MO, the police should also confiscate (aka cut off) his arms if he was stealing. This, of course, besides jailing him and fining the hell out of him with about 99% of his income.
If that's the law around there, the law is crap!

@9TNine Mate, Montenegrins, Serbs and Croats are the tallest nations in the world...

State of South Australia, Australia would take this car and if it was his 3rd offense in ANY car this car would then be destroyed, yes Crushed.
ANY car with more than 150 HP is capable of exceeding speed limits like the Veyron, that is why I can never understand Boguns who call for MORE POWER all the Time...WHAT FOR??, You can not use it in most countries without the prospect of being heavily fined, loss of license and loss of car, all except the mighty USA, about time the USA got with the rest of the world, only 20% of all US states have speed detection or stop light camera devices....Lucky You.

@ bbrs , zdravo. the Massai are the tallest people, but they are an ethnic group. as a country , the Dutch are still the tallest.

@A
Back in the late 1990?s (I think) the authorities put a speeding camera in the back of an unmarked van and parked it on the roadside. It caught a few speeding motorists. One motorist argued it was against the Constitution and the court threw it out! [as a pommy-b@stard, I never understood the Constitution]. So the State of Colorado could not use speeding cameras to catch and fine speeding motorists...
What you don?t realise, compared to Blighty, is there are sooooo many police cars in the USA! They?re everywhere and each is willing to write you a ticket?

Either the kid was a real prick or the cop was. I guess we'll never know.
April 30, 2010 11:54 am
That's why I find this car extremely useless to purchase coz you can never experience it to it's full potential.
April 30, 2010 12:24 pm
yeh ... thts y.... y dont you buy a KIA ... thts gonna do 80 mph ... which is max speed limit in the most parts of the world....

I was a passenger in the Lambo LP560-4 and we were doing 235kph in 70 kph zone, and yes, I'm serious (very, very long straight road with double lanes in one direction and opposite direction trafic separated with barrier). It was in central european country, where road laws are not very restrict as in other european countries.

Who cares ?! Are we talking about cars here or press poeple ..... ?
April 30, 2010 2:27 pm
maybe its the only car they own and saved up for so cant afford another one for him to drive, bit late now
April 30, 2010 7:55 pm
Confiscation is a bit of a steep price to pay regardless. I hit 100 mph to work every morning on a 50 mph highway in the middle of a city. But, at 6 am, this is possible. If the kid was doing this on a crowded highway, that would totally be a different story.
May 1, 2010 4:32 am
How can they confiscate someone else's car? I'd understand if the car was his own.
May 1, 2010 9:54 am
Not really a Dutchman now is he? More like a Dutchild.
I'd go find another place to live rather than tell his father he got his 1mil Eur car confiscated.
With any luck his trust-fund will pay out earlier...
He should have told the cops what my friend (a woman) told them after they stopped her for speeding in her SLK - "I didn't buy this car so I could drive it slowly".

@scratchy996
Pozdrav i za tebe. Yes, I know for Massai people, but as you said they are ethnic group. People from Dinaric Alps (Dalmatia, Herzegovina and Montenegro) are the talles in Europe. The average height of people from these parts is 185.6 cm and average Dutch height is 184.3 cm. There are no data for Serbs and Montenegrins, but I suspect that Montenegrins are the tallest because Montenegro is entirely in the Dinaric Alps.
P.S. Where are you from? Cheers!
May 1, 2010 12:20 pm
interesting , i didn't find any data about that.
Romanian Banat, with roots in Pancevo. you ?
May 1, 2010 2:19 pm
@scratchy996
Pancevo? Very nice, I have many friends there. :D
I am from Belgrade.
May 1, 2010 5:08 pm
will they return the car to you one day? or they just sell it and make profit after confiscating?
May 3, 2010 4:11 am
Revoke his license, fine him, or trial him if it's a repeat offense, and jail him according to the sentence. All of that would be fair, but no law should allow any government office to confiscate the car.

My sister lives in Rotterdam...the tax rate for owning a car was surprisingly steep and after having driven for days on the German Autobhn I felt sick driving in Rotterdam because of all the police and the cameras!
They have some very nice cars in the Netherlands...but nowhere to drive them!
May 3, 2010 8:17 am
news headline...The Flying Dutchman - shot down and crashed to earth .
