2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 Ti-VCT V8 Promo [Video]

A legend reborn

Ford has released a promotional video for the 5.0-liter V8 in the 2011 Mustang GT.

Featuring slick CGI action, the video details the advanced technology in the 412 hp (307 kW / 418 PS) engine. Goodies include Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT), Roller Finger Followers (RFF), and piston cooling jets.

While the clip doesn't mention fuel efficiency, the Mustang GT is rated at 16 mpg city / 24 mpg highway (manual) and 17 mpg city / 25 mpg highway (automatic).

Available now, prices start at $29,645 (coupe) and $34,645 (convertible).

Nice, but they should spend some time upgrading the interior quality, it looks so cheap with those fake alluminium trim and plastic dash board.

All of those sweet engine pics of windage trays and 6 bolt mains are appealing directly to my inner caveman. I eat food now. Meat good.

16-24 mpg is awful... i know its quite good for a 5 litre V8 but you dont need such a big engine.

You're right, you don't "need" such a big engine. After all, if you're seeking a 3600lb car with a naturally aspirated V8 that puts out 410-420hp you should probably get the M3. It costs a hell of a lot more money but at least its smaller engine puts out a lot less torque while getting worse mileage. AMG however builds a naturally aspirated V8 that's larger than the Mustang's at 5.5L. It almost has the same torque as the Mustang but a lot less hp. And worse mileage too. While pushing a lighter car. http://www.mercedes-amg.com/v855l.html#/5-5l-v8 http://www.leftlanenews.com/mercedes-benz-slk-55-amg.html

And what about the rear suspension ? I wish it's not equipped with those ancient springs . Ok , keep it simple and cheap , but not that way..

For the money, I like the 2011 Ford Mustang GT. This new V8 engine from Ford will be nice in the 2011 Ford F150 also. "Way to go Ford". Give Ford some credit, it is definately due here. ~ Mark ~
