Where's audi?? i can't see audi :). VW should shut down the brand and sell it to GM. As if GM would take chances and buy audi.

The most ridiculus comment ever :). This is a value estimation based on many factors : BMW is independant, and owning a group. Audi is a subsidiary of the Volkwagen Group, no matter they are valuated less. But Audi is the most profitable brand in this Top 10, and those last 4 months, they sold more cars in the world than BMW.

The vw group is worth 40-50 Bilion (if u take the crisis away). Porsche`s value lies around 20 billion when the crisis comes to an end, like before the crisis. Audi is VW`s cash cow but it isn`t independent, so there real value is tough to estimate.

Trust me they will never make it. They will back to 3rd behind Mercedes and they are gonna keep dropping. Then Lexus and Infiniti will top audi again :). audi's best days is to be second behind BMW :).

@ForcedInduction: in terms of cars, Audi isn't going anywhere but up. Barring a Toyota incident (which Audi will never let happen again as it happened before), Audi will never fall behind Lexus or Infiniti. If anything, the only real threats to BMW are Benz and Audi, and Audi is getting real close to overtaking BMW, not in terms of company value, but in terms of how good their cars are. Audi is already premimum brand at the same level with BMW and Benz.

It is obvious that Audi has improved its market share for the last couple of years. In the first quarter 2010, Audi overcome Mercedes with 15,600 units, while it narrowed the gap from BMW to only 1,709 units (0,65% of its sales). So who will be the 2010 winner is hard to say right now. IMO not Mercedes, forced by the economic recession to sign agreements with Renault and Nissan. Lexus and Infiniti are not likely to come close to the german premium brands as far as global sales are concerned (especially now when a Lexus SUV production was halted due to rollover problems). IMO, the main winner of the crisis is Audi. At least until now. But no one could say what will happen in the future.

Can someone explain how this ranking goes. Why is BMW the most valuable automotive brand??? 1.Most selling models in the world? 2.Bruto earned money per year? 3.Because of a many factories around the world? 4. Because of a large number of real estate? 5. Big earnings from each sold model?

Well, to answer to such a question is not easy. So, to get an accurate answer is better to learn more about BrandZ Top 100 on Millward Brown site here: www.millwardbrown.com/Sites/mbOptimor/Ideas/BrandZTop100/BrandZTop100.aspx

This is based on popularity by the poll respondents. BMW is #25 in the overall list. Sort of useless poll. The $ mean nothing.
April 29, 2010 7:50 am

#25 or #100 it doesn't matter as long as its the most valuable car brand which makes it a very useful poll. Looks like BMW threads are the best place to find audi fans trolling on BMW in every possible way to go. audi fan, you FAIL AGAIN :).

the only thing I establish here is that Force Induction is a BMW fanboy, rather interesting as BMW didn't use Force Induction alot, they do now, but not so much before

There is nothing wrong with being a fan-boy towards a car that comes on top. Realize, there is often times equal or even more Audi fan-boys present, yet it does not bother you.

Audi fanboys rarely ever come across as idiotic as some BMW fanboys do. Look at ForceInduction. The tool talks like a 6-year old out of preschool and has no idea what he's saying.

True, he may just be a talker. I for one, own an E36 M3 and my buddy owns the 46. I also currently have an X5. I have friends with A4s,6s, 8s. I had Volkswagen's in the past as well. The older VW's are garbage and so are the Audi's. Very crappy reliability, especially the ones that were assembled in Mexico. I know it concerns certain BMW's that were assembled there as well. The newer VW's and Audi's are much better and have stepped up the game big time. Is it better than the company who has been getting it right most of the time? Not really, but the average Joe would not even be able to tell the difference really because it just comes down to what you are looking for in a car.

Older Audis have never really attracted my attention. The A5/S5 were the first Audis I ever liked due to their sheer beauty. Then there was the R8.. These days, I'm disliking nearly everything Audi is doing. Price increases, idiotic options grouping..and what the hell is up with every model looking like the other? And..what kind of useless crap is the A5/S5 Sportback, soon to be followed by an A7: something that I think anyone with brains can predict will look like. Seems as if Audi have turned on themselves as nothing more than cash cows. Sure, profits are profits but the fact of the matter is that Audi has lost its appeal to me in the pursuit of what..industry domination? There was a point during which I preferred Audi over BMW as a brand, hence my owning an S5. In these post-Bangle days, BMW seems to be more focused as a brand in producing decent cars that have a bit of soul left in them. Among my favorite cars are the F02 7 and the E92 M3. My all-time favorite car is the Z8 and I am looking forward to the day that BMW builds something as timeless. Seems to me as if they're going in the right direction.

Maybe he meant BSI service "BMW Service Inclusive", not sure if it?s offered in US, but anyway it is still a valuable service even though it increases the car's price.

BMW has similiar campaign across countries, one I live in indonesia, it even will cover most replacement and services fees. Here in OZ, they do similiar program too.

I don't get where they got those $ figures from...It's not by market value, Income for the year maybe? But even then no way Google made 114 billion $ last year. Weird figures. Are you kidding me, BlackBerry is above VISA....What a joke Edit: After looking into how they calculate this i realize it is perhaps the most retarded calculation and most meaningless one ever, They take Net profits x the % they decide came because of brand name x growth multiplier....So a company that lets say makes 10 billion/year and these clowns deem that 100% of those profits come from just their brand name, and is projected to grow by 20% next year would give it a score of 120 billion $....

All this means is that according to these guys if all the car brands were to produce the EXACT same car and the only difference was the brand BMW would come ontop in sales.

something we all knew already, BMW has best brains in the buissnes, chek the "engine of the year awards" in last ten years, more then 60% goes to them, how huge is that?

Look at an A3 engine block or rad hose and you'll see a VW stamp. Look at a 1 Series component and see a BMW stamp. 'nuff said.

April 29, 2010 4:56 pm

Cost effective parts sharing = Low car value. but in real world the single new model price is just increasing! so im not sure what is the customer's benefit..
